They say once you quit it'll be easier the next time. Peter took a beating both mentally and physically that night, one I doubt he has recovered from.
That was a Fight where Vitali lost the Fight and Actually occured to lose the event also. Vitali gets no credit for Quit job and i quess rightfully so:yep
He knew he was risking serious damage, when a fighter say enough, it's enough. I remember people giving Freitas **** for quitting against Corrales, but the dude gave all he had for 10 rounds, was exhausted and been knocked down 4 times.
Personally i dont blame him, BUT most boxers I have talked to say "thats the worst way to lose". It shows lack of heart. They say... "go out on your shield".... it may be easier to say then do
Anyone got punch stats for this fight? I'd say that would be an interesting reading with a very high percentage rate for Vitali. I wouldn't blame Peter for quitting it must have been totally demoralising not only taking that beating but i can't even remember one bit of success for Peter. No matter what he did Vitali was landing combination after combination. Two ways of looking at it he should of went out on his shield (Lacy) or quit. With hindsight everyone is saying shield but after beatings like that fighters are rarely ever the same.
Vitali had a torn rotor cuff and a good reason to stop the fight! But, Peter had a good reason to quit, he was going to get KO'd and he knew it! :happy
