Do you care about the money your favorite fighter's make?

It's great that they can be heavily rewarded for more often than not, a life time commitment to become GREAT in the sport and / or for the sport.

The problem lies when it gets out of proportion and money becomes the only GOD in town....

why would anyone care what your favorite fighter makes? I do not get personally into how much my favorite fighters make. I just like them as people and fighters and their work ethic, but I never cared how much Hearns or Leonard or Hagler made. They never payed my bills or cared about me that way. But I like them as fighters and their commitment to boxing. Admiring someone in boxing as a role model doesn't mean you care what they make. Do they care about what I make? You have to be realistic.

one thing which bothers me is Floyd Mayweather's name is Floyd "Money" Mayweather. All greats earn money so Leonard could have been that also. That nickname is the worst nickname and does not make sense. Is he saying that money is most important to him and not being great? Because that is pretty much how he run his career. He fights for money and not greatness since he handpicks for easier styles. Not saying JMM is not a tough guy, but Juan Manual Marquez is a little easier style than say Shane Mosley. If you look at the intangibles.

 

It doesnt matter to me if they make 20 mil or fight for free, as long as I get to see the best fights, what I do hate tho is when £££$$$£$£$ is used as an excuse & the fans get robbed of seeing the best fights.
Thats why I try stay away of the money side of the sport as much as I can, its a side that depresses me TBH.

that wasn't the question. My favorite fighters happen to be big money earners, so I do not care if they make 1 million or 100 thousand. None of my business. But if my favorite fighter were Marquez who earns a little less? I don't want anyone ripped off by promoters like Arum, but I still think it doesn't matter to me since that is their business. Most fighters are smart guys who know how to make moeny. Whether they keep it is another thing , since guys like Duran throw it away. As for fighters, I hope they get what they want and deserve and the promoters don't get too much, but really why get into other people's business. No one pays my bills. That doesn't mean I don't want them to not be ripped off, the the question was do I care what my favorite fighter makes.

 

The question was about my favorite fighter not boxers in general. I love the sport of boxing and hope the boxers take care of themselves. But to say I get into that, not really. I never thought much about what the fighters earned when it came to one million dollar paychecks. I hope Tommy does well always, but I think that is his business or Leonard's business what they make. Not mine. But I love their boxing.
