he looks in shape. I mean he doesnt look perfectly in shape like this This content is protected but normaly out 10 he looks like 4. this time he looks like a 7. haye is in trouble. not saying that haye will lose, but a in shape chisora is no joke, this dude has chin, comes at you and has the power to hurt you, this won't be a easy fight. helenius thought it would be easy and he got hell.
He's in good shape. A natural, stocky, big framed HW type. He was way out of shape for the Fury fight. I imagine weight wise he would be most ideal closer to 230 than 240. But weight is not the end all to fitness and conditioning. He looks respectable at 240 and not a fat LHW that ate his weigh up. Cough Arreola cough.
He's a little heavier than usual so he's not in the best shape he's ever been in. But he looks to be in shape and well prepared. We will see on fight night how what kind of condition he is in.
if he was a ww and came in with that body shape then boy!!!! the klits have a more pro body shape, and there record shows
Chisora's trainer is a ******, he was talking about how Chisora doesn't go hard in training to save his best for the fight. That's not how the body works you idiot!! Chisora runs everyday but he could definitely benefit from a more sports science approach to training. I hope he batters Haye anyway.
I'm rooting for Chisora in the fight, but saying that... I don't care how "stocky" you are, you can never be considered in boxing shape at 247lbs on a six foot one inch frame. Ray Mercer, who was similar in bodytype to Chisora, routinely came into the ring around 225-235 for his big fights; Joe Frazier, a marginally smaller man, entered the ring at around 210 in his prime, and was not especially cut even then. It just boggles my mind that anyone that size can come into the ring nearly 250lbs and be considered in shape. To be fair to him Chisora doesn't look fat, and has demonstrated good stamina at similar weights, but seriously when did the 240s become the new 230s?
Somebody who is 6 feet tall is always going to be built differently than somebody else who is 6 feet tall. There is no 'right' weight. If you don't think he looks fat and he has good stamina then what relevance does the number have to anything?
I already acknowledged that Chisora was not built like a twig by comparing him to other similarly built heavyweights like Mercer and Frazier. And no, there is no one right weight, but there are ballpark figures, and Chisora is quite a bit out of his given his build and manner of fighting. If you think that's "good enough" then you're free to think that, but are you trying to tell me that Chisora is some special breed of athlete that would not benefit from fighting in the low 230s upper 220s if he had the desire and dedication to get down there?
I think any boxer including heavyweights should decrease their body fat as much as is comfortable for them to improve their strength to weight ratio. The thing is some people need more fat than other people to maintain their energy levels, everybody is an individual with their own 'ideal' level of body fat. You say you don't think he's fat and he has good stamina so I'm a bit confused as to why you think he should lose weight? He obviously has a large frame and large bones. Ballpark or not there are always going to be people with physical characteristics that are different to the 'norm'. Numbers aren't relevant unless you're comparing to yourself, if you are comfortable at 8% body fat weighing 215 and then you're 19% body fat and weighing 240 then you're obviously overweight if you were already physically mature at 215. I haven't followed Chisora, is this weight more than he's weighed before? I was surprised that he weighs that much but when you saw him standing in front of Haye at the weigh in you could see that he's physically a much larger man in every way.
It's not so much a matter of fat as of overall body weight, which can include muscle. My point is that, traditionally, fighters of a similar bodytype to Chisora's have fought at a lower weight and shown their best performances there, which leads me to believe that Chisora could also improve his performance if he were to reduce his weight by about fifteen/twenty pounds. I have a hard time imagining that Chisora is some freak that's only truly comfortable and in-shape at 245lbs when guys like Liston, Mercer and even the muscle-bound six foot three inch Bruno were perfectly happy fighting at much lower weights.
