Do you consider Deontay Wilder letting his rematch clause expire a duck?

That would've been very clever of you.

    Enjoy Fury vs Coopman.

The fighters sometimes speak for themselves, and if they could have got into contact with him and agreed that it was a no go, we could have expedited the situation.

I mean, do you think the fighters themselves don't have any input or do handshakes?

You clearly don't know how this works.

The actual people negotiating on Fury's team explained why it is off.

None of the reasons were Wilder didn't answer the phone.

    No, YOU clearly don't know.

Here is Eddie Hearn, a third party promoter, talking about how strange Wilder's silence is at 26 minutes.

Eddie Hearn wasn't negotiating the fight, either. Arum and Warren were negotiating with Finkel.

And Arum and Warren didn't blame Wilder.

Jesus. What does Hearn have to do with any if this? LOL

You really do think the boxers negotiate the deals for these big fights, don't you?

Everyone who was actually negotiating the fight disagrees.

The point is that he is an unbiased promoter who is talking about how strange it is to not be able to contact a fighter...a situation you don't think is strange at all.

Listen, I don't have time to split hairs with you. I said that Wilder did not duck anyone, but is intentionally being a pain in the ass. I think a vast majority of people, including Warren, Arum, and Hearn as an unbiased spectator, would agree.

    Good night.

How can he duck a guy whom he fought twice and just got obliterated by?
I guess Duran also ducked Hearns.

    Unbiased promoter. LOL

    Hilarious.

The people involved in the negotiations were clear as to what happened.

It helps if you know who the players are ... and who is and isn't involved.

The interesting aspect is that the rematch clause represented the last vestiges of that leverage and it's seemingly been allowed to expire. The Hearn interview @catchwtboxing linked to was interesting precisely because he highlighted the weirdness in Team Wilder allowing their clause to explore and not fighting a battle on a force majeure clause in the contract.

Now maybe they do this after Fury announces the fight, but if not and the clause really has just expired then its very odd. You can't blame Fury for not postponing into January or Feb, why should he? He can fight an easy fight, spend Christmas with his family and relax after a long period of training and start the New Year with no contractual obligations, a free agent with the WBC title. If Wilder still wants to fight him after that they need to draw up a new contract and this one will be far more in favour of Fury. So its smart business from his side, but not so much Wilder.

It will be enjoyed as much as Wilder vs Stivene, Arreola, Washington, Spzilka and Duhaupas.
