Firstly Yes I'm a huge Margarito fan & friend & I'm not ashamed to say it. But as for Floyd?
No way in hell could I ever support him. He's a proven cheater, peds abuser, woman beater, You name it, he's done it, he's everything I detest in a person . IV Gate proved it. The NSAC tried to cover his butt with the " Mr Mayweather did nothing wrong" BS statement but when you realize it was THREE of the NSAC's own rules regarding Dehydration treatment that he broke you see that really theyre not much better than he is are they????
Now you boring Margarito haters. How many times have I asked you all to submit one iota of proof that Antonio ever did anything wrong. Not one person has come up with anything.
All you get is Plasterito cheated or Margcheato loaded his gloves BS. Its obvious to all that the only reason you attack Margarito, is because he made your hero prove to the world he was absolutely terrified when he saw Antonio standing there. Blabbering like Daffy Duck he was hysterical lol Your TBE really embarrassed himself, the crowd there all saw it,
the fans have seen the videos on the internet too
What happened to the good old US law of " A man is considered innocent unless he is proven guilty in a court of law " ?????????? He was never indicted , all that happened was the CSAC, who are the prosecution in this case, declared " We are refusing to reinstate Mr Margarito's boxing licence in Ca because we SUSPECT!! he may have tried to load his gloves !!. In other words we'll tarnish his good name & ruin his career because we think he's guilty but have no proof
I supported a FIGHTER!!!! You supported Cowardly cheat

Benny or Sugar Ray in your top 5, George?

I assume as the question asks for best, this is a p4p H2H list, rather than based on greatness achieved in their own era? If so, I guess that answers my first question too - Sugar Ray

You can easily list 15 guys you think were the better boxers?
Not talking resumes, but purely skill.

I would say Floyd's the best women beater, but he's 0-3 against women he beat up in the court of law.

To me, the answer to this is similar to the question about Manny Pacquiao in the other forum.

Floyd Mayweather is an all-timer, sure. One of the best ever. But, I think he's just going to be remembered among the best fighters of the 21st Century. One of the first greats of THIS century. Maybe the best so far in the 21st century.

I think most boxing stars are remembered for their particular "century."

Fans don't really compare fighters from the mid-19th century to anyone now.

The 19th century fighters are essentially the 19th century fighters. The 20th century fighters are 20th century.

The 21st century stars will be the 21st century stars.

There's always some who overlap the end of a century and the beginning of another (Corbett, Fitz, etc.), like Manny and Floyd overlapped from the 1990s to the 2000s.

But Floyd became a really big star in the early 2000s. He'll be one of the benchmarks for FUTURE champions in this century to compare themselves to.

But I don't think most fans will still be going on about greats from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s at the end of this century, like people have done so far (mainly because many of us were fans in that century). At the end of this century, those guys will be ancient history, like fighters from the early 1830s, 1840s an 1850s were to most of us.

The fans in the 2080s and 2090s will be comparing their fighters to the greats at the start of this century, like Floyd and Manny and whoever else comes along in the decades to come.

And fans later this century may consider Floyd or Manny the best ever if no one has set a new bar in the next 80 years.

Fans will also probably be sick of hearing about how great Floyd or Manny were for 100 years (some already are ;)) and will be ready to move on, too.

I was taking resumes into consideration. If we're talking based on pure boxing skill, the number is definitely smaller.

Depends on what's included in that definition, though. You could make a case that a guy like Michael Spinks was just as skilled in his own way as Floyd Mayweather, since Spinks could box and, especially at LH. found different ways to generate and land with monstrous power.

But, yeah, in terms of defensive awareness and counter punching, there's aren't too many guys that I think could exceed Floyd in that regard.
