What george did was fair enough really. He essentially retired his claim to the hw championship by refusing to fight a ranked opponent. But he wanted to continue boxing because that's how he put bread on his table.

Can't hold I against him really. He won the championship 20 years after first claiming it. Unprecedented before or since.

Even hopkins can't watch it 95-2012 so despite beating it in age he hasn't matched it in length.
