He will never be back near the top. Who can he beat? Povetrkin, Ibragamof, valuev, Haye or any other young fighter when they get experience.

YES. He is a quiter. BUT what choice did he have. It was a good call on his part. If he hadnt have quit he would have been KO'd and maybe hurt badly. Even thought I am not a Peter fan, I dont want to see the guy get hurt. :-(

Thats pissed me off. The fight showed (IMO) that team Peter didnt give a **** about Sam. The corner saw what was happening and the idea of stopping never even enter there thoughts. DISCRACE!

A corner team is there to protect the fight as well as get him prepaired for a fight. Like the corner did in Wlad/Brewster II. That was a corner that cared about there fighter:good

NO! Sam Peter is NOT a quitter; he was beaten to a pulp.. Other folks have sat-it-out on the stool after several rds of action. Guys like: "Liston, Frazier, J.C. Chavez & Lamon Brewster." Hell, even Muhammad Ali was FORCED to quit by a peak Larry Holmes and a caring Angelo Dundee....

He quit, thus he is a "quitter".

But I never use that word for a fighter as some do around here (meaning he doesn't have the winner's mentality, isn't man enough etc.). The man was beaten up for a full 8 rounds, he had no chance of winning the fight and he knew that, he was damaged and could risk being damaged further, as Vitali would be right there to pound him for the remaining rounds.

I really don't understand why some think he HAD to stay in there for the full 12 rounds, or possibly to be brutally KO'd by a fighter like Vitali, when he had absolutely no chance of winning the fight, or even turn things around a bit. I mean, the people who bash him (or any other fighter that could be in his place) would have done otherwise if they were in his shoes? They are "more courageous and braver" than Peter? Cmon.

Other than sadism, I don't see why someone would want Peter to stay in there until the end of round 12. Fighters shouldn't risk their health (especially if it is obvious they can't win a fight) just because some fans think they ought to do it, in order to not being called "quitters", or just for their (the fans') amusement. True, some other fighters risk their health and go at it until they are out, but that doesn't mean they are brave and others who don't act like that are not. This is professional BOXING, not a test of "bravery".

I don't think he's a quitter. He took a beating for as long as it lasted.

People call these guys quitters...this is not like other sports. Your life is on the line in there...he was fighting a massive puncher, potentially one of the hardest punching men on the planet, and taking it continuously for 40 minutes. Why risk your life when you know that you've lost?

I don't think a lot of people really know how much damage a punch really causes. I've sparred against guys my weight who have just beat my ass, and that was with fluffy gloves and headgear. I would not want to take that from Vitali Klitschko for 8 rounds, for the sake of my family.

That's what I was thinking too, by the 5th I was expecting his corner to start threatening him that they will stop the fight if he doesn't show anything. They weren't even close to doing so and when the fighter his self is forced to speak you know his corner aren't doing their job properly.

    Absolutely.
His corner was a disgrace for not even urging him to do something in there or else they would stop the fight.
Either way, they should have stopped it before Peter spoke for himself.

Yes. It's not like he was destroyed. He was potshotted to death and took a few right hands to the head.

What broke Peter's will was his own inability to mount an attack.

Peter has the ability to attack. Vitali took that away from him. Peter was destroyed.
