Do you consider The Ring champs title holders?

    Guys awarded The Ring title, for example Joe Calzaghe after beating Hopkins? Personally it seems as valid as any other of the multitude of meaningless organisations but what do you think?

    Certainly more valid than any alphabet belt.

    Are there any ring holders who don’t also hold a title? I think Fury held it for a while before he got the WBC but I don’t know of any others.

    I think whatever legitimacy issues exist with De La Hoya's purchase have all been far outstripped by the ABC organizations' violations of fairness, so I have less issue with honoring The Ring's titleholders. And to be honest, I can't think of too many cases where their rankings have been clear indications of Golden Boy bias.

    I was a loyal subscriber for years and when i recieved their last issue with Dempsey on the cover was a sad day.
    Two days ago I recieved a leter from ring to resubscribe but their e- magazine's now. I threw it in the trash, not the same imo.
