Name a better boxing ranking organisation with as transparent a policy that lists the boards members and criteria for ranking.

It's not perfect, but the whole Golden Boy control is a conspiracy theory.

    Such a dead issue.

Are sanctioning fees that unreasonable? Does anyone have any hard data on this?

I remember hearing about some fighter (it might have been Pavlik?) refusing to pay sanctioning fees on principle one time and it was a trifling amount compared to their purse, IIRC.

    They are.

A lot of them are extra ridiculous.

Do some reading on it. I did and was pretty disgusted when I saw how much guys need to pay.

This is true, but the problem is that there are 4 sanctioning bodies to choose from. So if you think the dudes ahead of you in one are too tough, you just shop around until you find a guy ranked ahead of you that you can beat.

I respect the Ring title. At first, I was annoyed that a magazine was giving out championships, but now that I understand how it's done, I like it. All it is is a bit of recognition for the guy who is UNDOUBTEDLY the top guy in the division, until he loses. The only problem is that there's no incentive for the champ to defend the belt at all, let alone against quality opposition.

But looking at the current champs, they're pretty dominant. Hell, Wlad can't even get any of the top contenders to fight him! Haye is scared, Povetkin and Adamek are self-admittedly not ready. Calderon is defending his title against the legit top contender, Segura. JMM is defending against top contender Katsidis. Martinez can't get anybody to fight him. Pascal is ready to take on anybody and currently has too many contenders to choose from.

Some people think that there aren't enough champions crowned by the Ring, but hell, if nothing else, their system is exacting. You've got to beat the man, or if there isn't clearly a man, you and the other top contender for the championship have to fight it out. I respect that.

The system might be flawed, but the champions are undoubtedly the champs, and for now they're doing what the champ is supposed to do. Until things start unraveling, I have no complaints.
