Since it's come down to Ward vs Froch yes I do think after all the dust has settled, that it is a success! Looking forward to Ward/Froch should be a good one!

Right. I never do understand why there is this attitude that in boxing when a fighter loses a fight they are suddenly exposed and are bums.

It is because there seem to be so much hang up on not losing that there are so many badly matched fights and so much avoiding going on. Sometimes there might just be equally skilled fighters or one style better than the other or one of the boxers being better on the night.

giving us comptetive boxing and making everyone fight each other yes. on building a mainstream crossover star that casual boxing fans know, not at all. i think andre ward can sit at a macdonald's right here in oakland california where i'm eating a number 1 meal as i write this and not have one person ask him for a photo except me.

Even if he hadn't fought i the tourney it would be like that. Ward isn't a guy who could be built into a draw that easily. I think the tourney let his actions speak louder than the mouth.

yes - even if you forget about the toruny itself, it brought us great match ups that we may never have seen.

granted they lost many of the key original guys which hurt the tournys quality, but they (shobox) still pulled thru with a good product. And we're finally at the end. as long as the officiating and the judging is good during the fight then yes it is a success. not to mention we saw many great fights as a product from this tourny. hopefully we can get the same at LWW and many other divisions...

The tourny took way too long and although we got some good fights out of it we have definetely isolated some of these fighters from the rest of the world of boxing. This tourney should have had a winner already lined up to face Bute about a year ago.

yeah and the sad thing is i've trained next to him in the same gym. so it's like a person asking for a photo with someone you already know. almost cheating. he's a really nice, nice guy. but unfortunately he's not a loudmouth, or a ko artist, but just a very very good fighter. so what can you do? unfortunately he might be the chris byrd of this generation.

I have voted yes a success , but I do feel like Jermain taylor was unlucky to face the two most dangerous fighters one after the next.

It took too damn long! It would have been better just to have 8 instead of 6 and pair them up. Winners advance to next round. Then out of those 4, two will be left to claim the best in the division and all that could of problaby just taken 2 years at max.

Glad it gave us a few great bouts, but sad that it proved just how pervasive home town cooking is, even when one organization is basically in control.

Glad it gave Glen Johnson one last chance to shine. Sad that we lost Kessler so early.

Glad that Dirrell got exposed as the biatch he is. Sad that Bute couldn't be exposed as the fraud he is.

    It's basically a toss-up.

Agreed. I think it all stems from the promoters and the marketing aspect of it.

They tell us because this or that guy is undefeated he is the best their is. That's why we see so many weak match ups. They can't afford to expose the golden goose before he's lain the egg.

We lose out, because most of the time, a guy with lots of wins and a gaudy "0" in the loss column hasn't fought the biggest challenges.

    Taylor vs Abraham
    Ward vs Kessler
    Dirrell vs Abraham
    Froch vs Abraham
    Froch vs Glen Johnson
    Froh vs Kessler
    Dirrell vs Froch
    Ward vs Bika

    what's not to like.

The only thing I don't like about the super 6 is Allan Green.

It's showcased the best 168 lb fighters in the world and undoubtedly made them bigger names than they were. The Super 6 has been a great platform for the fighters who've been involved and done well. It's got some of the best in the division to fight each other as well.

All of these things can only be good for the sport.
