absolutely, do you think we would have seen all these guys fight eachother within 2 years if not for this tournament?

It's been great, exciting fights throughout.

Mandos are coming. As I've said in another thread today, I think the WBC mandatory -The Dog- will get the winner in the spring... concurrently, I see the loser going for Bute and Kessler going through -literally- Stieglitz.

In which case 2012 could bring us even more exciting top 5 matchups.

    Froch-Ward rematch
    Froch-Bute
    Ward-Bute
    Kessler-Stieglitz
    Froch-Kessler II
    Bute-Kessler
    Froch-Dirrell II
    Ward-Dirrell (???)

...this division will be alive for another 2 years IMO, then most will be either moving up or retiring.

Was very good, im disappointed at how it didn't get the much needed attention it deserved via 24/7 or something else.

It was an innovative and well-intentioned tournament.Yes it has flaws, and has had some hiccups, but the nature of the sport i.e,risk of injury etc always meant it was likely there would be a few bumps along the way.
The hearts were in the right places for the S6,holes can be picked in the format and lineup.
But yes,for me it has been a big success.

    Kessler quit

abraham quit halfway through each of his last two fights

and ward never ****ing ran, thats the most ******ed **** I've ever heard.

For those complaining that it isolated the other fighters in the division, how come those fighters didn't just fight each other? Instead they just kept fighting bums so **** them.

**** yes it's been a success. The Super Six has brought attention to the 168 lb class and provided us with good fight after good fight with a few great ones sandwiched in between. This finale with Ward and Froch should be an instant classic.

Way to long, fighters drop dropping out and being replaced how can you say it was a success because it was not.:bart

Without the tournament you have fighters avoiding each other, not to mention nagging injuries which can cause any fight to be canceled. And since when does isolating some of the top fighters become a bad situation? Without the isolation they'd be fighting C class journeymen and getting away with it.

A tournament should include ALL good fighters including someone like Bute. I say it should be formatted like the playoffs in the NFL in a sense that all great and good competitors are guaranteed birth and a wildcard can sneak through the door. I don't like how the tournament doesn't give upcoming fighters a chance to shine. They need to fight big name opponents in order to be recognized. Then again if, say, the tournament lasts 2 yrs, a green fighter could wisely use those two years to prepare himself for the best in the division. And if he was already good enough before the start of the tournament, he'd qualify to be in it.

I voted yes, but we will never know how these two years would've gone without the tournament.

Kessler-Froch is the best fight of the S6 so far and I think it would've been made anyway. Kessler has showed is commitment to fight the best in the past (we'll leave Bute out of this discussion for now) and Froch already had a nice pair of victory against Pascal and Taylor before the S6. I think these two europeans warriors would've made a big lucrative fight anyway.

Ward-Kessler was a big step up for Ward and I don't think we would've seen it (yet) without the super 6. Ward is probably the boxer who's career has been affected the most by the super 6, even tough he hasn't had top opposition after Kessler.

Dirrell-Froch is another fight that I don't think would've happen without the tournament, Dirrell needed some more fights and it gave us a snoozefest. Without the injury, Dirrell-Abraham was a really good fight when you look at it. We seem to forget that.

The main problem with the super 6 is that they leaved Bute out of it. If there was no super 6 and these fights occured :
    Kessler vs Froch
    Ward vs Taylor
    Bute vs Abraham
and then a fight involving one of the winners, we could've had a better 3 years in the SMW division. However, they could've all ducked each other and it could've been worse. However, the tournament gave exposure to these fighters, so Ward vs Froch is now more important than it could've ever been.

Nope. Why? Simple. It doesn't answer the question it should, Who is the best SMW. I wish Bute was in it.

yes absolutely. Ok we would like some improvements and to tweak it going forward but damn people - how many other divisions see guys mixing it from within the top 10 ranked in their division! jeez gimme break - so many spoiled brats here :)
