He became champ after beating Spinks. He was older than Patterson when he won the title. He was the youngest hw beltholder though.

Another stupid thread in eastside no suprise. This is an easy answer you look at the ages of all the HW fighters who became champion and whoever was younger that who it is. You dont get to choose which win was more important, which opponent was more gangerous or better or which belt means more. Those are things stupid fans use to try and validate their fighter or make a point against a fighter they dislike.

    :hat

Why is this even a discussion.

Tyson was the youngest champ plain and simple.

After that you can argue about how good the victory was, where it ranks vs other fighters but he was younger than Patterson when he won hit title so officially Tyson is the youngest champ.

Ali's win may have been more impressive but he was still older. FACT

:deal Somebody with some damn common sense and logic.

People throwing terms around like real/true champion are just stating opinion based of their own personal definitions.

Agreed. If he was just another paper titlist, the record would be meaningless, but Tyson became the undisputed champ. He justifiably should be viewed as the youngest HW champ since there is no question he is a legitimate HW champ and not just a beltholder.

    Fair enough.

As long as you recognise any WBF champ who wins at say, age 19.

No matter how you want to slice it, Tyson was the youngest fighter to win a world HW strap and he unified the three major belts as the youngest.

...and no, Igmar Johansson was not the linear champ, because he beat a titlist that was not the linear champ (Patterson). So lets not go there.
The youngest is Tyson, Tyson, Tyson a million times; it is Tyson. Now learn to live with it.
