Fury can use his length much better than joshua. Usky 4 or 5 inches smaller than fury. Big reach disadvantage. Big natural size and weight disadvantage. Its a big leveller to skill level up at heavyweight. Uskys dangerous because he tires you out by stalking you etc before drowning you. He can possibly do that to fury but its a big task ahead giving away them advantages. Your stalking a man with a much longer reach...weight and size advantage on you. Furys a freak of nature in terms of his size/length etc.
fury doesnt have the dissuader that aj has. the prospect of a wiffle bat hitting your jaw, is not the same as a louisville slugger coming at ya.
I still think fury hits harder than people realise. Or he has in different fights in his career. Get the feeling he,ll be hitting like he was against wilder in the 2nd fight on saturday night. Suspicious he wont be 100 percent clean for it.
not saying usyk will have no respect for furys hands, but hes gonna take a lot more chances than he would vs aj. hes gonna throw more combos, hes gonna punch in the clinch, etc...this is gonna fluster fury, he doesnt respond well to that. hes used to fighters waiting for the ref to seperate them so they wont tire out wrestling. with wilder all he had to do was stay inside the end of his 1 punch, and he had him beat. usyk is a whole different species of animal.
I think people are sleeping on how much furys punches will sap usyks energy. Usyks style is high energy....i think he,ll struggle with it when the punches that do land will be punches of a naturally much bigger man. They might not look much at times much like usyks but their more effective than they look. Similar to mayweather. He was never a puncher. But we all watched opponent after opponent not coming forward when they found out them punches are more effective than they look. I think usyk can do it on saturday night. I think a lot of people are underestimating his task at hand tho. Its a lot of weight/height and length to give up.
fury has some really bad habits. or rather, he gets away with being predictable because his opposition does not press him on that. they arent good enough, or their trainers dont prepare them for it. you would be surprised how many weak trainers there are at world level. the fact that a guy like joyce wasnt handled properly by a fighter til they matched him with zhang, is a good example. nobody else looked prepared to exploit his flaws til then. usyk is elite, he will catch fury leaning, cause he knows where fury is going to be. or he will after a couple rds.
Agree that usyks elite. Or he was an elite cruiserweight and a very good heavy. Also fully agree that fury has a lot of bad habits. Habits hes got away with partly because of the things you,ve listed. The other part people underestimate tho is how natural it comes to fury. He fights off the cuff. Its probably easier to exploit a well trained fighter than someone like that. Hes hard to predict because most people think and then they do.....with fury he does without really thinking. Its the one thing thats kept him from them bad habits being totally exploited up to now. I do think usyk has the toolset to exploit it. I still think a lot of people are underestimating the task at hand tho. Weight/length/height disadvantage. Add to that if furys punching like he was in that wilder 2 fight and he can land it. Usyk could be in for a long night. Usyks engines always been great....but its a style that relies on high energy fighting against a big natural weight advantage where usyks had to put on 20 pounds of unnatural weight at 37...whilst trying to keep that high energy style. If furys hitting hard on the night....with a naturally big size advantage its a big task at hand.
Yes, but Fury has a massive size advantage to fall back on. They are both skilled, but Usyk will need his athleticism/speed to make this competitive. Size always matters
Age is nothing in this fight, thay are less than 2 years apart, you can't not say Usyk past it if he get's beat & i think he will.Credit should go to the winner.Btw in other post you were on about age.
I was talking about age in both posts. In the last one, I was expanding on what I meant. I was trying to say what advantages are lost and which remains as a fighter ages. Credit will go to the winner, but the fight has lost some meaning for me personally, as I feel it is past its sell by date. We just need a resolution so we can move on. Though I am still excited to see it, now that it is here.
It’s a style Fury has not beaten yet at the highest level. If Fury beats Usyk he has beaten a boxer (Usyk), a boxer-puncher (W.Klitschko), and a puncher (Wilder) at the highest level.
