Who was closer to be called the best HW at a time: Vitaly before his retirement or Wlad right now?

Good question. Vitali was pretty dangerous and could take a punch, but Wlad looks so damn good lately.

Vitali has proven nothing to me, other than he can take a good beating against the best of what was out there at the time.
Wlad is the one who is showing improvement, and he will be better than his brother will ever be because of Manny Steward. Sdunek is a weak trainer in my opinion.
The division is weak, and Wlad should have no problems with anyone for a long time, but you will see Vitali's comeback will be short lived.

Mmm Not too sure about this one. I don't think anyone can CLEARLY beat him in the division right now except Wlad who he won't fight and Peter who he will duck if he calls him out. He will go for Sultan or Chagaev or maybe even Holyfield, lol and theres none of these who can stop him IMO.

Well I certainly dont think Jameel Mcline will be the one, but they will have to be very careful how they match this guy.

    I voted for Wladimir

Looking at resumes, he has a string of wins over Samuel Peter, Chris Byrd, Calvin Brock, and Lamon Brewster which exceeds Vitali's wins over Corrie Sanders and Danny Williams in my opinion.

Vitali is tougher and has a better chin than his younger brother, but Wladimir is more skilled. He is a sharper puncher than Vitali. His jab is better and his right hand is like a torpedo. I also think he is better defensively and is more coordinated. In his last few fights, Wladimir has displayed his many offensive weapons. Against Brewster, it was the jab. Against Byrd, it was the right hand that did quite a bit of damage. Against Brock, it was also the right hand. And against Austin, it was the left hook.

Overall, I think he is the more talented fighter between the two and has the better overall resume.

wlad IS the better fighter he has also beat better fighters and i think he looks near unbeatable at the moment

but i also think Vitali would win if they were to fight

but the queston at the top says who is da man which is Vitail becuse he can take a punch and dosent take a step back

Wlad said once, when asked which one of them were best, that when training his older brother would usually kick his ass. I wonder if it is still like that.

To answer the actual question directly...

Vitali was not the "man" during his tenure as it clearly is the case that Lennox was the "man"

Wlad however is the "man" at present

Wlad. He's clearly a notch above any other Heavyweights right now.

not until he claims back the lineage of victory that Ibragamov holds over him.
