There are only 2 elite fighters in boxing IMO. Mayweather and Pacman. So it isnt a knock on Cotto when people say that he hasnt fought any elite's yet. Its not like there are many elite fighters to go around.

Of course he has fought top figters in his time. Who, in his weight division, could he have fought (or would have fought him) who would have made him elite if he had beat them?

I judge on what my eyes can see and my mind can comprehend. Elite, A, B to Z fighters? No, I see Graham Earl and Michael Katsidis and I see great fighters, I look on the Israel Vasquez and Rafael Marquez fights and I say "What great fights, what two great fighters", I watch Miguel Cotto and Zab Judah going beyond the call of duty and I say WOW, I see Kelly Pavlik going for it against the odds and Taylor and Miranda and I see a great fighter. Somebody says to me Mayweather, Oscar, Bernard, Winky, Roy and Pernell are elite and I say "So what?"...

No, to me, an A level fighter is an elite fighter.

    well...

i think Elite = Roy Jones, Shane Mosley, Mayweather (dam i hate sayin dat), B.Hop, Trinidad

then you got A Ranks like - Taylor, Pavlik, Dawson, Judah, Kermit Cintron

but then you also got potential elite's who in my book would be: Pacman, Cotto, and David Haye

i think elite are the p4p fighters and those contending for the top 10, probably the top 15 in the sport are elite to me:

Floyd, Pac, both Marquezes, Calderon, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Casamayor, DLH (probably still), Mormeck, Wlad, maybe Taylor if he bounces back from this defeat well.

Lol this is actually what got me started thinking about this thread, the debate about Clottey. In my ranking system, I would place him somewhere around the B+ status. I would place someone like Zab or Vargas (prime) in the A range, but none of them would be considered "elite" fighters. I only hold about 10 boxers in that range at any given time.

To me, World Class is someone who is at worst in the Top 5 in their divison, depending on how good the division is...sometimes there are only one or two World Class fighters in a division...

To me, Elite is someone who is a Top p4p fighter; one of the best in the world. There might only be a handful of these...

    Elite Theres only two currently

PBF - just the skills and the potential matchup nightmare he causes.

PAC - Fought alot of A and B+ guys at 122 but the way he destroyed them is what makes him elite

An A level is someone like Morales..Even though he aint elite anymore he still beats B level David Diaz.

Elite fighter - One that can take A level fighters regularly and beat them without much fuss the majority of the time.

A Level - One that can compete with Elite level fighters, will usually loose but not in a devistaing fashion. Will beat B level fighters clearly. etc...
