great post and that's exactly the kind of thing i've been thinking about. Of course Vitali and other heavy's would develop their skills differently if they were smaller BUT some heavyweight's you know would excel in any era, in any division because of how they perform (ie: Ali, Tyson, HOly) whereas others like maybe Lennox were great heavy's but could only rule that division because they lacked certain qualities
at middleweight he would still have: an Iron Chin awkward lean back style counter punching ability defense so yes he could still succeed at Middleweight. Shrink Roy Jones Jr. down to say Light Weight. He would have: a Glass Jaw his speed would be the same as everyone else and so would his power etc. he would get knocked out. It is easy to play the 'size' game but it does not mean anyting.
Personally i think if they havnt won titles at 2 weight divisions minimum they do not belong on p4p lists. p4p applies to those fighters who can change weight divisions....vitali cant do it no doubt vitali's got good skills but all we'll ever be able to do is speculate about the possibilities at other weights
I think people who say that at middleweight or any lower, heavyweights wouldn't do well, well if we are talkin POUND FOR POUND, then POUND FOR POUND speed should come in to play, I believe p4p Ali is the fastest boxer of all time, because he was big, but much faster than anyone of that height/weight. People only regard size, mainly going up in, for p4p. If vitali was to completley rule the division, or haye etc then they should be regarded in the p4p, only problem is its such a poor division. oooooorrr i have a better idea, Vitali should lose a **** load of weight, maybe cut one of his cheekbones out, the size of that must weigh a fair few pounds and compete at light heavy, sorted!
Because Rico is constantly making ridiculous, unfounded statements like the one I made above, and I wanted him to taste his own medicine.
