Do you factor number of fights when considering and comparing a fighter's age and prime?

Every fighters journey is different so I don't follow the same formula for each fighter theres so many different criterias.

Lifestyle and training habits outside the ring ?

The amount of punishment you're taking in your fights ?

The style of a fighter is it very high energy and taxing on the body ?

How active a fighter is ?

That's why I hate all these comparisons with Usyk and other past Heavyweights saying "Ali was shot at 36 years old look at Usyk at 39 years old".

Yes Usyk had an extensive amateur career but his scheduling in the last 6 years or so of his professional career has been on average 1 fight per year.

If Usyk had been fighting 3 fights per year like other past notable Heavyweights Ali & Holmes.

Would Usyk at 39 years old be the same if he was much more active in recent years ? Of course not.

As I said no fighters journey is ever the same and simply using the age of 2 different fighters to make a comparison is flawed logic.

 

Fighters primes are different and it all depends on their boxing style, out of the ring lifestyle, training dedication, hard sparring, level of competition, and the numbers of tough fights that they've gone through.

A fighter like Wilfred Benitez was already considered washed up and past his prime before his 30s despite being considered a great defensive fighter. You also have someone like Bernard Hopkins who got better as a fighter past his 30s. It all depends on the fighters themselves and how they handle themselves in their careers. Sometimes age can be a factor while other times it can be wear and tear.
