He knocked down Wlad and was a point up on my scorecard when the fight was stopped due to Wlad's Glass Skin. You will notice the Wlad fans don't like to talk about this fight. What were your scorecards? Wlad won a controversial TD SD.
No, Williamson lost it. There should be no doubt about that, because Vlad kept connecting with jabs for most of the fight. But Williamson made Vlad look like total crap. Who knows...if not for the cut, Vlad might have been in for a rough evening. That bout may have been Vlad's worse in years. Vlad was not himself that night. If the pair fought a rematch a year down the round, TOS would have taken the full count (no disprespect intended for TOS).
The knockdown was a balance knockdown, more than anything. It was obvious Vlad was still trying to master Manny's tactics, and was robotic as hell. In terms of rounds, I had it 4-1 for Klitschko after five rounds. I was reluctant to give TOS an extra point for knockdown, given that it was a flash KD, and Vlad was winning to the fourth aside from the moment he was off balance and got decked.
I was at the fight and scored for TOS by 2 rounds. Wlad was in for a long night as TOS was shortening up the distance and it's awfully odd there was no rematch. They certainly had no problem asking for his services to spar but never pursued a rematch. Hmmmmm
off balance flash kd, Wlad wasn't hurt Wlad was winning 4-1 and would've KO'd Williamson if the fight had continued
yeah Wlad didnt look great but Davarryl wasnt doing much of anything so Wlad was winning..he did knock down Wlad so you gotta give him that round but it still was flash knockdown
TOS had a great right hand. He was a fighter that could hurt Vlad if he connected, and he was getting close. I was in Vegas for the fight, and I remember Stitch being very eager to get Vlad out of there the easiest way possible. This was also in Vlad's rebuilding phase, and he was quite vulnerable. Vlad of today murders that version of TOS without a hiccup.
That's essentially my point. I agree also that TOS was dangerous. Seriously. Vulnerable, but threatening, largely because of decent boxing ability and a very dangerous right hand. All in all, I remember being surprised that Manny accepted TOS as a tune-up consider that Vlad was in a rebuilding phase (at that moment).
