Wlad was going through a series of disappointing fights. He was one KO away from calling it a career in an unforgiving sport. I think the fight was a referendum on how far Wlad was falling. Although it was a flash KD, TOS reinforced the belief that didn't respond well to pressure or any kind of resistance.
Nothing controversial about Vlad beating TOS................Vlad would have knocked him out for sure, no problem..................look at where Vlad is now and look at where TOS is. Nobody is talking about Lewis getting knocked out cold by Rahman or McCall TKOing him.....................Steward was working on Vlad's foot work, Vlad was off balance anyway. Who cares. Want to see Vlad rematch TOS? Hell, I'd put some big money on that fight, Vlad by knockout!!!!!!!
Has Wlad won any events? The guy has so much power but instead of taking the opponent out fast and impressively he would rather jab and clinch his way to a boring decision.
A bit ignorant if I might say . I don't know if you are European or not, but most Europeans know that Germany is one of the countries famous for packing sporting events big or small. Germany and England pack 40,000 strong to watch sub par Horrible football teams like Derby County and Hoaralfksraf FC. Spain and Italy on the other hand rarely show up to sporting events. Huge teams like AC Milan will more often then not only draw 40k out of a 71k San Siro. It all depends on what country you are hosting the event in. Let's see Wlad sell 50k in Italy.
I rewatched the fight and it was quite a change to see Wlad actually FIGHTING and throwing meaningful punches with decent workrate, even if he was nowhere as effective as he is now. One one hand it was a definitely a flash KD and Wlad wasn't affected at all, doing well and being ahead on scorecards - but you have also to take into account his balance was quite poor in this fight. You can easily imagine Williamson scoring another flash KD or two (and he was quite close to it in round 5 actually), so Wlad's win was still far from guaranteed... especially as he looked quite tired already after 5 rounds.
Every one be quiet and pay attention: That fight the HW Gods showed up and decided to make Wladimir the champion of an horrific **** era. Because Wladimir was going to lose that fight base on the fact this guy was pretty much once again running out of stamina. If Wlad had lost that fight, he would have probably called it an career and went on to become a bench player for Fulham FC. Becoming the 2nd tallest premier league striker in PL history behind Peter Crouch. I really do have a fondness for the K2 Express and Wlad, but this guy's got more '2nd chances' then any other champion in the history of this sport. He was koed by ROss Purrity, and he didn't even start yet. As far as I can recall Wlad is the only champion to ever be KOED during his 'journeymen record padding run'.
No, he was a very poor boxer with china chin. He has done nothing since - I guess he is on the pipe and on foodstamps these days.
IDK......It was a legit flash KD although Wlad didn't go down, but rather lost his pisspoor balance and touched a glove to the canvas. One one hand TOS KDd Wlad, but one the other hand, Wlad won every other second of the 5 rds.:think
