As a fan, do you feel that you spend too much time on heavyweights compared to lighter weights?

I myself am somewhat guilty of this. But recently i have definitely made an effort to focus on the lighter guys - ranging from 122 to 175.

Now, if i could only choose to either see heavyweights for the rest of my life or all other weight classes, i will choose all other weight classes.

Heavyweights are the division where the biggest bombs are thrown, and every punch can knock someone out, which is why heavyweights are usually more entertaining for fans. Lightweights can be admired for their speed, footwork, and agility, as they are lighter guys, lighter weights can actually be underrated.

Heavyweight is a glamor division and with very good reason, but I must say that some of the best fights I've ever seen have been in the lower weight classes 126 and below. Most fans nowadays are just about main stream fighters tbh, not enough credit is really given to the smaller guys.

To me, there’s boxing and there’s heavyweight boxing. There’s some overlap but to a degree heavyweight boxing is just an entirely different animal.

I enjoy both. I think most here do.

Heavyweights get more attention, the same way quarterbacks get more attention than linemen and linebackers. And that’s OK.

If I'm doing a thread on here I try to sometimes mix it up and do one about the lower weights.
It's refreshing to talk about the smaller guy s, tho I must admit I know more about the heavy s.
I think the majority of people focus on the big boys if I'm honest.

I prefer watching Heavyweights fight. I do often enjoy watching lighter weight fighters compete, but not as much as I used to. I still like the old films of lighter weight fighters. And I do not particularly like watching natural Light Heavyweights competing as Middleweights (or even as "Junior" Middleweights). I would prefer weigh-ins much closer to fight time and less weight classes. I do not see any of that as a problem, nor do I really have a problem with people who like the way things are now in the lower weight classes. To each his or her own.

The fact that Rocky Marciano has more forums in this site than the likes of SRR should tell you which division is talk about more.

No. Light/welter/middle are my favorite divisions.

I do confess to not paying as much attention below Bantam.

I do but it can't be helped. Back in the days of boxing magazines I used to know the top ten of every weight class in every organization. But I'm not 16 anymore and I can't spend large parts of my day following boxing. With a family and long hours at the job, I can follow heavy-LHW and a few key guys below--Inoue, Crawford, Lomachenko, etc.

I also used to follow Football but I gave that up entirely.

How many lighter weight fighters became cultural, societal, sociological, even political icons in a way that completely transcended the actual sport of boxing like some heavyweights did?
