I'll admit. Some boxers have way more credibility than deserved. But I'm sure I'm not the only one who grows tired of hearing the word "overrated" When I speak of the likes of Rocky Marciano,David tua, and Joe Frazier. It seems that it's used as an "Ace in the hole" term used in threads where it's "Oh, I din't like him or he never impressed me, or he never had good matches" atsch It's quite annoying and a dismissive term to say the least.. What do you think?
overrated is a word overused in a lot of contexts, not just sports, but every time a judgment of taste is concerned...
I think fighters are overrated too much more than I feel like the term is over used People see some power, they think the fighter is unbeatable. People see some skill, and they expect him to be the next Floyd Mayweather, despite the competition not even being close to worthy of that praise. For example, why do people think the Charlo brothers are gonna be world beaters? They're both so damn basic, and boring, and they have no personalities. And I'm not the type that dislikes "skilled fighters"... But there's a difference between skilled fighters like Floyd, Ward, and Rigo, and basic fighters like the Charlo brothers
i think it's necessary in this sport in particular look how many belts there are, look how easy it is to pad that record and make (in many instances) better $$$ by maintaining that padded record at home, than actually using the momentum of a belt and a flattering record to work towards bigger fights more than any other sport, boxing needs to put fighters under the microscope because the more $$$ that can be made, the more some boxers and promoters will aim for easy street
Every word is overused on this forum. It's mostly fanboys and trolls and they just jump to conclusions or refuse to accept any opinion that isn't their own. Compared to when I first joined, this forum is a joke.
The words, overrated, underrated, weight-drained, Great boxer are often overused by underachieving fans who generally understand **** about the sport.
Overrated is used too much, but mainly because of some boxers who are rated without ever fighting a ranked fighter, such as Wilder.............
Today unbeaten records mean more to the causal fan than the reality of fighting the best and losing sometimes (except cherry-picker floyd). That is why UFC is so huge now. So, overrated can be equated to an '0' on the record, especially for someone like Wilder. Imagine what a 40 yr old Foreman would do to him....LMAO
Over-rated Bum Glass Jaw Drained Fix All words used too often by people who dont know what they're talking about,
Bum, hypejob, fraud, glass are just a few of the overused terms on this forum. No doubt someone like Hearns would get **** on here now if they around today which is laughable.
Ain't no fighters in England. Only a bunch of La-De-Da Gimps and overrated, glass jawed hyped weight drained bums.
