It makes a difference if I've previously seen the fighter ringside and then followed his career over the years. Otherwise, it's just sports, but the higher the level of athleticism, the more tense it feels, like in any sports. I might also root for the underdog, especially when the A-side has behaved like a ***** leading up to the fight, and you can see that the underdog indeed has a chance. Last happened when Kambosos fought Lopez. Really wished he would get up and the fight go the distance when Kambosos was KD in round 10.
Yep. Still get the heebie-jeebies. Bigger the fight bigger the HB's. If I ever fail to feel like this on a BIG fight then that's when I'll stop watching boxing.... One fight I remember in particular was the Hoyfield-Tyson 1 fight. I had 3 mates round for a curry and beers night/early morning and we'd drunk pretty heavily and were very boisterous and talking to much during the undercard etc. As soon as the bell went for the first round we all just shut up & sobered up. The mood instantly changed, as if a switch had been thrown. You could have cut the atmosphere with a knife it was so thick and tense. Gotta love that feeling.
I haven't gotten nervous in a while. I just get excited. The last fight where I felt my nerves were GGG/Canelo 1. I didn't get nervous with AJ vs Usyk, because I was expecting Usyk to lose (I was wrong). Same thing with Fury/Wilder 3. I fully expected Wilder to lose. I only get nerves when there is a fight that's hard to predict and one of my favorite fighters are involved.
Usually I do, especially if I'm invested. For some reason Crawford vs Porter didn't do anything for me though even though I'm invested in Crawfords career. Maybe I just had too much confidence.
Im only a fan of a few active fighters. Its quite nice watching matches and not caring about the result. No nerves at all unless a FOTY or ROTY unfolds.
Sometimes, but not often I remember watching Floyd v Manny and I wasn't in the slightest bit nervous. I knew 100% that Floyd was going to win. There was zero doubt about the winner and knew Floyd was head and shoulders above pac I was a little nervous for Fury v Wilder 2, buy was Well at ease after the first round
Rarely Ive been more a sport fan than a fighter fan. Its rare im so invested in an outcome Probably the last fight i truly got that into was shakur stevenson's olympic final
I ain't gonna lie my knees were shaking like a pooping dog's legs during Jake ''Money'' Paul's ring walk for the Woodley fight.
Yeah, I still get it, and it's usually anticipiation of something special & when I'm been following either the fight / fighters Recently I can think of:- Usyk v Joshua Taylor v Ramirez Taylor v Prograis GGG v Canelo 1 & 2 Brook v Spence Brook v GGG Probably the 2 biggest ones I can remember was when I was much younger:- Joe Calzaghe v Jeff Lacy Frank Bruno v Mike Tyson
Mostly i get nervous while reading boxing news, because there is a big chance that big fights get canceled or postponed
Yes & No.. Depends on the fight. The usual big ones yes, especially if the fight has a good back & forth
