I personally can't stand watching fights below welterweight or lightweight, and almost never do. I find it almost like watching dwarf boxing that was so popular back in the day. There are some exceptions to the rule, but overall I find it extremely boring. For one thing it is kind of silly that someone can be hit with 50 clean hard punches a round with no effect because they guys are so weak. I also feel it is kind of creepy to watch guys who weigh the same as teenage girls fighting against each other. When I watch boxing I at least want to feel like the fighters can actually beat me if I were to fight them, but I don't get that feeling when I am watching some 120 pound jockey fighting someone.

Does anyone else have the same aversion to the lower weights classes?

personally, I love it. Same as the higher divisions

The divisions I don't like are the ones where there's not enough good fighters

Sorry man if you find watching the lower weights boring then you dont belong on here , the guys down their generaly fight for lower monies , but are so much more technically astute , fight really hard and always put everything on the line.

I suggest you take a look at some of the following - Calderon , the Marquez brothers and some of the Japanese champions.

You should watch Barrera vs Morales 1 at 122lbs, if you find that boring then you should start following another sport

For me personnally lightweight is the lowest weight I really care for, with as low as flyweight for the "biggest" (pun intended) fights. Don't care at all for the even lower weights.
I guess it has something to do with the fact I, and most people I know were already bigger and heavier than those guys as a kid. Just some weird mind boggle.

I honestly find it harder to watch Heavy Weight bouts than say Fly Weight. There's just more technicality to speedy boxers. Personal opinion though. I like seeing an actual boxing match instead of a knock-out competition. Sounds a little backwards, but just personal preferences I guess.

Enter Vic Darchinyan, 27 KO from 35 wins. Former flyweight, super flyweight and soon-to-be batamweight champion. He is a 53kg heavyweight:

I'll watch any fight... regarless of weight class... as long as the fight(judges/ref/promoter) is honest and the combatants are game and conditioned.

Ill watch a fight regardless of how obscure the lil guys are.

Lightweight isnt that small though, if you stop there you miss out of Featherweight which is surely one of the glamour divisions.

In addition to my post above, please remember that one of the great things about Boxing(and Martial Arts) is that there is a weight class for everyone. I assure you that the "lower" weight classes are wildly popular in Asia and Latin America because, in these regions, there is a higher percentage of people who fall within this weight range and appreciate the fighters better as a result.
