Do you guys think Greg Haugen deserves the IBHOF note than Vinny Paz?

Hmmm...his resume was slightly better, his losses to top fighters were mostly close decision, he's arguably kinda done when Chavez and Lopez got him...

Any opinions on this brave lil' mutt?

    Haugen is an interesting case.

A two time world champion who held wins over Hector Macho Camacho , an older version of Ray Mancini and Paz.

Those are three Hall of Famer scalps right there!

He also had a good win over Jimmy Paul in a fantastic fight which was close but he pulled it. This was when Paul was considered a star in the Lightweight division. He won his first title from Paul who was the IBF's world champion.

Technically, he has 4 Hall of Fame scalps since he also beat Freddie Roach. But Roach, good as he was as a boxer, went in as a trainer and not a fighter.

Unfortunately, people these days, myself included, remember him mostly for fighting like he himself was one of those taxicab drivers from Tijuana against Julio Cesar Chavez in Julio's finest hour.

I think he is a borderline hall of famer.

Same for me I guess, plus the fact that he wasn't overly talented or whatever, yet still pulled a good career than one might expect, makes me want to put that crown right in his head.

In honesty, I don't think either belongs. Greg was a trickster, a heady, smart pro. Few if any real physical attributes but he made the most of what he had. Paz simply doesn't belong. Complete travesty that he made it in. Connections, Connections, Connections.

That’s really what it all comes down to unfortunately. A fighter with a less than stellar resume can still get in if they have the right connections to have the doors open for them. They leave out guys like Ceferino Garcia and Lionel Rose out of the HOF ballot but will let someone like Paz get inducted. It’s a disgrace.

Maybe the movie based on Pazienza’s life story was enough to show his HOF worthy credentials.

Whatever way you want to look at it, he's far more deserving then someone like Paz.

Haugen never had a movie made about him.

He fought a brilliant fight in the second Paz fight, one of my favorites. And I thought he should have won the first one.

Haugen was never a steroid cheat. Paz was one of the most flagrant drug cheats ever in boxing.

I think Paz made it just to bring people to the place. Lot of people will come to see him inducted and bring some money to the economy there. Doubt too many people will make the trip to see Haugen. That's kind of what they seem to do there anymore

    Y'think?

Dude had the roid gut and stupid Hollywood muscles. And was a spastic, aggro D-bag. Unlikeable is the word that comes to mind.

Ruined the career of Robbie Sims by throwing Robbie all over the place.

Reasonable, but It's painful to see others working their butt off winning fights against high ranked fighters for the money and legacy, while Paz just gets inducted from that reason?

Rubin Carter and Micky Ward had movies based on them but didn’t make the cut.
