Do you hold it against Jack Dempsey for not fighting Harry Greb?

Two more things; Randy Roberts wrote 2 great books about them in 4 years. "Jack Dempsey, The Manassa Mauler" & "Papa Jack" . Loved them both. The writing is superb.

Big man argument: Wills beats Greb. I think Greb is p4p numerous uno but fighting someone as big, strong and skillful as Wills may be biting off more than Greb can chew. I'd have a similar argument for Dempsey v Greb except that Dempsey clearly ducked Greb and may have known something we didn't. Although Jack ducked Wills too - maybe he just said f---it I'm making more as a celebrity, I'm not fighting anyone decent anymore, why should I?

Fulton, although big, may not have been skillful enough to keep Greb from getting inside the range of his power and that may have allowed Greb to maul him from close range to a victory.

In the end, I'm not saying Greb certainly defeats Dempsey, it's just blatantly obvious Jack avoided the fight and this tarnishes his legacy.

 

Fulton kept Langford outside in 2 fights.
Dempsey v Greb would have been a no win situation for Jack.

 

No, my argment is neither of those things.

Im simply trying to ask why, if the feelings about Greb are held so strongly, isn't he rated above Dempsey by those who make the arguments and demonstrations ??
Why isn't Tunney rated as highly as a heavyweight by many of those too ?
