I like this link a lot. I hope others score fights as boxing needs a data base to flush out the bad decsions like Lewis vs. Holyfield 1, or Norton vs. Ali 3.
just checked this out. i'm not sure how much longer this thread will last because it's essentially advertising another forum but i'll say this. if it stays essentially true to itself it coulod be a very good website. this and other sites have the forums nailed down imo, but the gimick of this site is brilliant, there is a thread here for scorecards but it aint as clear cut or as neat. boxrec is a database site and few use the forum aspect altho it is there, if this site stays true to itself and doesn't try focusing too much on other things i think it could be useful. i'll have a go at uploading my scorecards etc to see how easy/user friedly the thing is and i'll leave my feedback later. it's good for me personally because i like to watch fights where the decision is disputable. make sure you keep your tags scorecard related to keep it at the top of google.
Well...mine are all on ESB. :conf Before the RBR mantle was passed on to me, there were just random scraps of paper in a drawer. Organization was never my forte. It once took me two hours to dig up my handwritten Margarito-Clottey scorecard for use in a debate on here. It was under a litterbox.
IB, i hope you store all your RBR cards elsewhere as well because you'll have scored fights that could well be debated ten years from now with no footage available (for example hopkins v mitchell, i base it off the word of the only per4son i have spoken to who watched it)
This sounds a good idea. I used to keep scores in my little red book, but I lost it a few years ago, never to be re-scored again. I was mightily pissed off...for about 10 minutes. Then realised I couldn't give a ****, as long as I remember who I thought the winner was.
I didn't want to bring this up again after it run its course earlier today but I couldn't help myself after reading this. You did mention that the person who scored it, tabbed it for Hopkins. So, your draw card disagrees with this. :huh
Yeah I too felt it run it's course. But no they said nothing in it, could easily have been a draw, mitchell looked quite strong. They had it a draw. I've yet to see anything suggest that hopkins won the fight apart from the odd lunatic "come on he's a legend, no way did he lose to some bum on his debut, must have been a robbery" etc etc. If I ever gave the impression the man scored it for hopkins I either used bad wording, typos or wasn't clear. He said it was a draw in his opinion. But the point I was making was that ib has scored a hell of a lot of cards since i've been on this forum and maybe before then as well, so he'll have a first hand opinion regarding a lot of obscure undercard fights that could considered relevant one day, which reminded me of our earlier debate.
You think another ESB crash will full data loss is likely? :think I've been mulling over the idea of going through and amalgamating all my past RBR reports (just the round posts themselves). It would be quite a tedious undertaking, but could be worth it for posterity if nothing else as you say.
a few months back there were rumours a crash was imminent in the lead up to wlad-haye but it never happened. however i just think that having esb as the only source of storage is dangerous, the thought of all them rbr's going to waste is painful!
A delayed reply. I (also) am building the website in the initial post. lufcrazy: you are so right in your comments, and we are committed to staying true to our vision. And you're also right that promoting one forum on another is not super cool. We didn't have a forum at first, we wanted to get the word out about the scoring and rating features of the site. We do have a forum now, but our main focus will remain analyzing/storing/aggregating/doingfunstuff with fan scorecards and ratings, not building up yet another forum. Anyway, my main reason for posting here and now is because our signup system was messed up when Nick first posted, and a lot of people that tried signing up were rejected. So... to all interested... give us a second shot? :smooch We think the signups are all fixed now. http://www.EyeOnTheRing.com Oh, yeah, I should add that I do know I've never posted here before and that means I'm likely to be ignored generally. No worries, for now I just wanted to post one follow up on this thread.
Yeah there were some glitches. I'm more than willing to give it another go as soon as I get the time :good
We are planning to have a feature where you can easily download all your cards entered at eyeonthering.com in XLS format. It's not working yet tho, I'm sorry to say. But keeping a local backup seems like a good idea, no matter where online you've entered cards.
