    to fighting a bum mora
to fighting another unknown of kessler
to fighting an over the hill bernard hopkins

    if he beats roy jones

everyone is just going to write off as being old and washedup...

and if he faught kelly pavlik he would just to young and under developed

you pretty much see where i going with this

some people may NEVER respect him

I respect him now as a good fighter but I WILL NOT put him on some ****en pedestal as some do here on this forum. He's a good fighter but no ATG. He could have done more for his legacy had he come over a lot sooner in his career and fought some of the best here in the states.

Now, if he fights and beats Pavlik, I'd have even more respect for him b/c I dont believe Kelly is young and underdeveloped.

    :yep :yep

Pavlik is not "young and undeveloped." He's probably 3 or 4 big fights away from absolute peak, but I do think he is entering his prime.

The thing is he did spend the majority of his career fighting sub-par opposition. It's good that he will have fought a few top tier fighters late in his career but that doesn't make up for the rest of his career. For the same reason Floyd will never be mentioned alongside the likes of Ray Robinson, it's that his career leaves a lot to be desired.

Ah, but its what is in his future that will determine his legacy. Forget about all the TC's he destroyed on his way up.

Thats another way you can look at it. Not a bad ride up the ladder when you look at the manner in which he won the majority of his fights. A Champion in the making. Now, a possible ATG in the making.

    Remember, I said "possible" ATG.;-)

i thought calzaghe`s performance against mora has been underestimated by walk with me.

calzaghe showed his hand and footspeed in that fight quicker than the flash.

so fast i blinked and missed it.

Wrong. He had a good shot when he fought B-Hop. The problem is B-Hop finally looked old in that fight, and Joe didn't look any better then him really...just fresher. He didn't impress. And your wrong again about Pavlik. If he fights Pavlik, which for some reason he won't, and beats him he will get alot of respect.....but he knows, what we all know and that is if he fights Pavlik he will get an ass beating.

i don't think pavlik is under developed when he had already fight the likes of taylor and beat him twice so i disagree with that and i'd give him a lot of credit but i jones?

now that i agree jones is shot, already a leftover of tarver and johnson, got KTFO twice and was never the same fighter he was, more past it than hopkins..so i won't give calzaghe any respect if its jones

Some people rate him WAY too high, some people rate him way too low. Hes not an ATG world wide(perhaps the greatest British Middleweight fighter at most). things to consider -

Jeff Lacy - Im surprised by how people hate on Lacy, we are talking of a fighter who was undefeated at the time. Im not saying hes an A fighter, but maybe a b-. We will be able to determine in Lacy's next fights. If Lacy because a journeyman, then it wont mean much for Joe, however if Lacy becomes a champ, then yes i guess that could help his legacy

Peter Manfredo(NOT mora btw.) - Useless fight. Dosen't mean jack

Kessler - Undefeated like Lacy at the time, but more proven then Lacy. Most americans dismiss Kessler because they have not seen him fight, but hes not a bum. Beating Kessler is a + to his career. I would compare calzaghe v kessler to Pavlik v Abraham. Pavlik beating abraham wouldn't make him an ATG, but it would help.

Bernard Hopkins - Well, washed up&old is thrown too easily at that fight. I don't think the age factor should be taken that much in account, the real deal is - Who had Bernard beaten at 175? Whats his track record with 15 more pounds? The only one is Tarver(the Winky fight was so close, it could have gone either way, when you take in account a headbutt cut to winky), and he beat them both over the age of 40, so i don't count the age in that fight, especially with the resurgence of all those 35+ year old fighter nowadays(campbell, casamayor and pretty much the entire LHW division :D ).

So overall? Defenitly the greatest British Middleweight, but not even close to ATG Middleweight. Whats missing to Joe is 2-3 fighters in their Prime like Jermain Taylor, RJJ and Winky Wright. Had he beaten those guys, it would have been a done deal for Joe - ATG Middleweight.(dont say P4P rankings please, they are way to subjective.)
