Jeezus Christ...look man, I'm from the Southern United States, we are all toothless hicks (figuratively speaking). The point is that nationalism, and the way in which British/European process matters such as this are vastly different and it shows when/if you read the threads on this board. There are instances when nationalism are prevalent in American culture, as it is anywhere, but rarely is it a defining factor in supporting or not supporting a fighter. If you look at combat sports in general foreign fighters have enjoyed massive popularity in the States. Specifically if you think someone in Los Angeles, CA (Hollywood) is going to support some guy from Alabama just because they are American, you are disconnected. I long ago passed the stage where the implications about me, based on where I'm from, bother me but I remember when it did. For that, I sincerely apologize if you were offended, I'm sure you're a stand up guy. The bottom line is nationalism isn't the factor here, that it is in the UK and Europe.

I think Jack is a solid workhorse and will always support him and Fury has certainly grown on me as well.

Boxing used to be on ABC NBC CBS on Saturdays and Sundays. It was common, it was not like they have now a fight every few months. So guys like Hearns or Duran or Leonard or Hagler were on tv all the time. Pryor, Spinks. All the names were there first then they moved to bigger fights, so they all know. Tyson had many fights on regular tv- on the weekends and since his fights were so fast, they sometimes put them in right before another fight like a Simon Brown fight. Or they had highlights. When Tyson was coming up people knew him better than they know Wilder now. This is just marketing of the past and simpler times maybe. Television. Boxing is a smaller viewership now. So much is going on and boxing is just a thing of the past probably. People watch it, but they are people who love the sport and want to see it. No new viewers are watching. My nephew is 18 and he talks about Mike Tyson at times. He really is not into boxing, he just knows the huge fighters like Floyd and Tyson , since Mike is in the news.

Wilder just came in the wrong era for HW boxing. He deserves some respect and not this level of disrespect

He'll get that when (or if) he starts beating top guys.

Stiverne and Ortiz are really the only guys on his record.
