I dont own head gear but wouldnt, gloves i have let other people use them sometimes to save time when swapping from pads to gloves all the time to save time.
Is that really avoidable in boxing? I sometimes lend people my head gear, gloves or bandages. I don't really give a ****. A while ago I contracted herpes from taking and blocking punches (I had it on my face and forearms).
People own their own headgear? :blood Seriously, I never considered it. Dunno, we all swap stuff all the time. Gloves, pads, headgear. Cooties too apparently. (but no jocks tho cuz that's gross! haha)
herpes :scaredas: i rarely bring my headgear to my club with me, just laziness i suppose and i just use the sparring gloves and headgear at the club i dont see a problem with it, i wouldnt feel the same about having to lend someone my guard
...and no, I wouldn't let anyone use my stuff. If they don't like the old grubby gear from the locker at the gym, they can go buy their own like I did. I'll lend extra hand wraps out once in a while but I always wash it when I get home.
I started boxing last week. Was in the changing room and heard some of the guys talking about having to borrow each others gum shields :scaredas:
I gave someone my old mouthguard that I keep as an exra. He forgot one at his fight (dumbass!) he got some hot water and remolded it so it would fit. He offered it back to me after his fight but I let him keep it. Yuck. I don't let people use my stuff. Like amy said, if they don't like the old stuff that the gym has, they can get their own like I did. I still use smelly old gym headgear for fights, but I have my own headgear for sparring, bag gloves and sparring gloves.
