Why is it pish? Of course some people hate Khan because of his race/religion, including boxing fans and if you don't think so you're very deluded. I'm sure that's not your personal reason for disliking him or for many others, but it's a factor in this country, I personally have heard it many times and how do you explain away the racism he and his brother suffered at a Liverpool boxing show??? There are fans out there that hate Amir Khan because of his religion/colour, they're probably in a minority and we shouldn't dwell on them, but let's not pretend they're not there, to do so is very naive.
Everyone of every race or religion is hated by someone if you look hard enough but Khan being booed at the weigh in was his own doing. Amir had everyone behind him at one point and fooked it up himself. The post I replied to was suggesting the hate from fans comes from racism, well I dont know about you but this is a boxing forum full of boxing fans therefore that statement was aimed at me as I dont like Amir and I gave it the response it deserved. Of course it must be racism coz we just all love paying £15 PPV to watch a fighter who has barely faced anyone with a pulse. There are plenty of reasons to hate on Khan without making some up
racist undertones come after they dont like the personality. if khan was a likeable guy then he wouldnt get all the hate. you have to admit he is delusional and arrogant. what was he saying about being able to beat mayweather in a 4/6 rounder?
No it wasn't it was a point made in general if you go back and read it. You really don't need to be so defensive about this, nobody excused you personally, so I don't know why you feel you have to defend yourself? Yes you could say it was aimed at certain boxing fans and yes as shown by the response towards Khan (twice) at a Liverpool boxing show, there are boxing fans that dislike him because of his colour. With regards to your first sentence, yes that's true, but irrelevent to this discussion when you look at the demographics of this country. Someone like Hatton and Calzaghe are obviously less likely to suffer discrimination because their race accounts for more that 90% of the country so there's obviously far less chance. With someone like Khan belonging to a minority race and religion, the chances increase. No need for us to harp on about it, we shouldn't even entertain these kind of people, but let's not deny that's it there, that's just plain stupid and naive.
Thats correct. He is not this cleancut nice guy that he is portrayed as. Just ask the guy he crippled in the road accident .Well you cant ask him because he is now dead. Playing the race card is for the mentally weak who like to play the victim role. Khan isnt even as "hated" as some claim. I sat on the same plane as him over to vegas last year and him and his family got treated like royalty. Boxing fans dont like him but the average joe on the street thinks he is an olympic hero.
Im not saying im being accused personally, what im saying is I have watched Amir go from Hero to zero over a perion of time and it has somehow coincided with what he does ans says. Each time he says something stupid, arrogant or each time was are asked to pay £15 to watch him the hate gets worse. That to me is nothing to do with race or religion and how you can come to that conclusion over an internet forum baffles me. Are you Derek Acorah? did sam tell you?
I never came to that conclusion, try reading my posts. You're completely missing my point. Someone on here made the point that a reason among some fans why Khan might be hated is due to his colour/relgion. You decided to speak for the whole country and said this was 'utter pish' I said, well actually it's not utter pish, because this is a genuine reason with some fans and boxing fans, but obviously not all. Not accusing anyone in particular, but racism is there and will be in the future, we all have to live with it, but let's not pretent it's not there. No doubt some hate Amir Khan for other reasons like yourself which is fair enough, I don't particularly care to be honest.
The poster I originally replied to was suggesting that racism is the main reason he is hated and thats why I replied it was utter pish. Coz it is utter pish imo. You say im speaking for the whole country? that would be silly because I dont know what they're thinking do I? ..no, neither do you so all we can go on is the reasons for hate(bit of a strong word) that he has given us and theres plenty. The reasons posted on this forum by many members of similar race to Khan are valid reasons and people are too quick to play the race card. Khan was loved by the nation during his olympi run, was he a different race back then?
I actually think his race probably helped him during those days, he was seen as a good role model for the Asian community and he was talented and producing results. You have your reasons for disliking Khan, that's your opinion, I don't really care, I'm sure your reasons are not racial, but no doubt many other people's are and that's just the reality of life in Britain which the original poster correctly highlighted (see appalling abuse Khan received twice at Liverpool boxing show). As you point out, I would like to hope that it's not an issue for most of the people on this forum, but I don't know the people on this forum so I'm not qualified to say either way. Anyway, let's just agree to disagree because this can be quite a sensitive topic so there's no need for us to harp on about it.
I support him because he's English and does have the ability to excite with his speed but I'm not impressed with the way he has gone about things during his pro career.
STFU. You're on almost every Khan thread talking ****. If you dont like...dont watch. No ones asking you for your £15 ppv, go spend it on your owl or your ferret or something.
