Canada always had their fair share of good amatuer fighters, now that professional boxing is opening up I suppose we'll see a wave of Canadian fighters within the next couple of years. Swedish amatuer boxing is next to.... ridiculous :|

I understand and agree with that. As long as you respect others.

ANy other people who, like me, would fast foward those national anthems if they could?

I would also fast forward the anthems. National pride should have nothing to do with boxing as it is one man vs one man.
The only forgivable exception is in amatuer boxing, Cuba vs USA.
That kind of national rivalry is good IMO.

I'm fine with a little rivalry. WHat i hate are the "eyes closed in the dark" biased comments.

But could you explain to me why is this rivalry ok and not the others?

Watching Olympic Boxing, I don't always root for my countryman. Sometimes if an American squares off against an Italian or a Pole, which is my combined heritage, I will openly root against the American. If the American has a big mouth or a displeasing style , I will hope that the Russian, Nigerian or Japanese wins. Just being a fellow countryman doesn't buy you catre blanche loyalty as far as I'm concerned.

I love boxing, I don't really care which country that the fighters are from as long as they're good.

I'm a white American, but I have always been a fan of boxers from all races and nationalities. Why, if I favored only white American boxers then that would make me a racist, now wouldn't it? Sarc.

Yep me too. And you have the best avatar by far, damn..:nut

To be true, i often routed against germans fighter cause i didnt like their character (as far as you could tell from tv). Hell, how can you route for guys like Maske, Schulz, Ottke or Beyer?:fire Maybe im a very bad person cause i dont have any national pride whatsover:| . I also never really understanded the concept of beeing proud of a country? What the hell have i done to be born in germany. I could have done nothing against it beeing born in america, iraq or Afghanistan.
