Fair point. Sometimes you dont have to waste your time trying it, if theres scientific evidence that says otherwise.
However in some instances, yes i do agree with what your saying, try things/see what works for you. The six small meals a day thing, would not work for me as it would be a pain in the arse trying to fit it around my lifestyle, which seems to be the same problem as the OP is having, and a lot of people have, and theres science saying that it untrue, so why try it?

In regards to training, i totally agree though, try different things, experiment, see what works best for you and gives you the results, and stick with it. But always be open to new ideas.

It may look like bull****, but to be honest its good quality scientific information, i know what you mean though by the long-winded boring appearance of it, but its worth fully comprehending.

there are so many benefits to eating only 3 meals daily, the hormonal effects are great for you in terms of training, recovery and performance

i use to be on a 5 meal plan, changed over to 3 after reading a book on the warrior diet and i do feel a hell of a lot better

thing is the 5 to 6 meal idea works great for bodybuilders and it is assumed by too many that this is the case for normal athletes when infact they are wrong, that idea came about in the late 80's early 90's nearly 25 years ago its pretty outdated but still gets played loads, and i dont want people coming on here saying well pacquiao eats 6 meals or more and **** loads of calories, im talking about athletes who train hard once a day not the world class performers who need constant energy and recovery, 5 to 6 meals a day not only is a pain in the arse but everytime you eat your body becomes inflamed, your blood sugar level is constantly going up which obviously has its problems and your body is constantly releasing insulin, your digestive sytem is also constantly working, there is tonnes more info on hormone release in relation to this which supports this argument which i aint i dont know of fthe top of my head

It's actually more beneficial for an athlete to consume 5-6 small meals a day than it is for a bodybuilder, unless the bodybuilder a) Can't eat a lot of food in one sitting, b) They need to eat truly ridiculous amounts of protein due to not being natty.

i like how you say something without giving an explanation for anything you said, your way off the mark with what you said about bodybuilders btw

Athletes generally train several times a day, nutrient timing becomes a lot more important. Go and look at the amount of bodybuilders now who don't give a **** about the 5-6 meals a day thing, the primary concern in regards to body composition, NOT performance, is hitting your overall macro/micro needs throughout a day.

True what you said about bodybuilders.
However please explain your theory on athletes? If you are talking about post workout protein, then trust me bro, its bull. Studies show that its much much longer than 30 minutes, or however long you are suggesting, it lasts for around 24h which you will have had some protein from one of your meals regardless of 5-6 small meals or 3 bigger meals.

Carbs are more important post workout and your right the effect you talking about does last close to 24hours but the 30 mins is optimal and it decreases overtime but is still in effect for longer

and what makes you say that? Dont make me regurgitate some more **** that i've read;).
Generally your glycogen stores aren't going to be depleted enough for you to worry about it though, even if you do train twice a day. With 3 big meals you will still be replenishing them, for example breakfast, training session, lunch, training session, dinner. Your glycogen stores are going to be replenished by the time your next training session comes around.

Edit - If you are that worried about it than simply eat an apple or whatever after your training session, which im sure most people would eat/drink something anyway, which could count as 5-6 multiple meals throughout the day.

No, I was referring more to the effect of intense training on glycogen stores and replenishing them when training at intensity several times a day :good
