I feel like had he been promoting Deontay Wilder or even the Klitschkos there would be a lot more interest and media attention for the HWs...
It's not like there havent been ANY marketable fighters in the HWs the last 20 years...

He made the early-mid 90's so much fun. But he was a dirtbag.

120 year old Bob Arum from the same era is still doing well in the game.

He doesn`t have any heavyweights that are global superstars in the way Tyson was when he was promoting by King.

Don King was a great promoter and from all of the fighter’s I’ve known personally the best pay guy. That said once his wife died his heart hasn’t really been in boxing anymore.

Arum didn’t have any heavyweight stars during the time King was at the time either but my point was that Arum has proved that it possible to have stayed relevant near the top of the sport today even if it’s is a different era as you said. Maybe King spent too much time focusing and controlling the heavyweight scene and when that control was lost with the rise of the Klitschkos, than so was Kings influence within the sport?

Don King put on some unbelievable fight cards on PPV in the early 90s.
He would have a Sat night line up with
    Azumah Nelson
    Terry Norris
    Felix Trinidad
    Julian Jackson
With Chavez on top. It was criminal in a sense to have those legends fighting on undercards but from a fans point of view it was beyond great.
