Nope. He's a criminal who is a stain on the history of boxing. And not for what he did in Cleveland, for ripping off fighters. He's a parasite.

    Tim Witherspoon might dispute this

    • "I been heavyweight champ of the world twice, and I live in an apartment in Philadelphia I'd be embarrassed for you to see. I got nothing to show for it." - Witherspoon told to a media friend following the bout. He then handed the same person the tooth that had been knocked out as a souvenir. (second Smith fight)
James Smith, who trained for a 35k bout with Mitch Green, got a 230k title shot polaxing Tim Witherspoon. What again was Witherspoons purse in both of his Smith fights?

After Smith surprisingly won, his purse increased by 28 times the Green bout (1 mil.) against Tyson, who got 1.5. Now thats some unexpected money!

I wonder what Witherspoon would have earned fighting Tyson...

Tim was dumb enough take loans against future purses and think Don wouldn't take it back off the top and charge him interest like any smart promoter or anybody advancing money would. Tim was an excellent fighter, but like Mike Tyson wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Yep, could be summed up nicely in one word:
    Psychopath

That may be so, but that's really in no way exculpatory of the predatory activities of people who may be a little smarter. (Not that you're insinuating otherwise.) I'm a sharp tool, and I'd probably be a rich tool if I were a psychopath.

    Well said man.

Use whatever extreme term you like-soiciopath, psychopath, Monster...

King fits all of them. He was endlessly exploitative, corrupt, dishonorable & disloyal to the boxers who didn the actual fighting that made him.

I miss him about as much as I will miss the sociopath who is now President & will be disgraced & criminally convicted, if he is fortunate enough to avoid impeachment.

Nothing like having 4 to 5 legends in one PPV.
