For some reason, this catchy little tune pops into my big scottish head from time to time, & I always have a wee chuckle to myself at team Calzaghes short video clip! I would have loved to see Peter & Scott Harrison doing a similar version before the video ended with Scotty walking into the spanish prison, & the gates closing behind him...

So thats my question, DO we miss Joe Calzaghe now that hes gone? Has boxing missed him now that hes gone?

Is Scott Harrison a free man yet?

I miss the big nights, doesnt seem the same with Haye, Khan, Froch yet as people would pile in my house to watch the Calzaghe and Hatton fights whereas only a couple of hardcores come round for fights now

I don't actually if i had the choice to bring back other fighters or him i'd bring back likes of Eubank,Harrison. Calzaghe i respected but never been a massive fan of his.

In a way I think we do.

Certainly on here, I'd rather have the Calzaghe debate than the *******/***** nonsense that seems to take over many threads - not so much on the Brit mind.

I think both Calzaghe & Froch needed each other, both will be remembered well, but Calzaghe bowing out by fighting pretender to his throne Froch would have been an amazing end for Calzaghe, & an amazing start for Froch, no matter who won. I always feel both are the missing link in each others resumes...

If it meant that "song" never happened... yes, I'd bring him back in a second. I like him as a fighter as well.

  10. Of course the British Isles miss Calzaghe....a total artist inside the ring and sometimes quite awkward outside it. You don't realise what you've got until its gone.

I wish he'd **** off with the celebrity lifestyle he tries to embrace these days...he quite clearly not got the minerals to pull it off. But a total boxing enigma that I don't think these shores will ever see for a long time ( if ever again). That video shows you how uncool he is though...bit of a nerd if you ask me.

Funnily enough...his fight with Kessler made me follow Mikkel across the world ever since.

I miss the whole Camp Calzaghe set up - a Golden era in Welsh boxing led by Joe and Enzo Macc - as the Golden Princes of Welsh Boxing.

Yes and no, a great British fighter who missed most of the big fights! I think he only boxed anywhere near his level right at the end of his career. I really enjoy not arguing about him any more put it that way and concede he was indeed an atg.

Not forgetting his anti-bullying work, it took real balls for a guy like Calzaghe to admit he was bullied as a kid & to fight for the rights of bullied children on GMTV etc, & on the other hand he took great pleasure in bullying BHOP inside the ring, pretending he was inside BHOPS ring!

The man was a true boxing enigma as you say my good man.

I dont blame you mate, it was like an admittedly better version of Peter Harrisons time when he had Scott Harrison & Alex Arthur in the same gym with a certain Billy Nelson as his able deputy... I miss those times too! Although IMO Billy Nelson is showing Enzo Mac potential as a trainer who could become a bigger personality than his fighters!
