Do you penalize fighters on your scorecard for excessive holding, refusing to engage, rabbit punches ect.....

It seems alot of peoples scorecards are split on fights like calslappy/bhop or froch/direll

I personally do take off points for excessive holding and running.... Which is why i scored froch/direll for froch by 1 point....

Not trying to talk about that fight, just want to know if you factor it into your scoring??

not really, not in terms of penalty. it does factor in though in how effective you are in neutralizing your opponents offense. however, if it is excessive it obviously reflects in how little offense they are putting forth and a fight is not won by spoiling

    For me its situational.....

If your holding as part of a game plan, using it as part of ur offense, working the clinch ect.... like bhop or ward.... Even if its a bit dirty, i dont penalize it if the ref dosent

But when a fighter is holding on to dear life/ it looks like hes afraid to get hit and engage ect... Then I penalize it...:think

It also ok to clinch if you get rocked... Im looking at you cotto :nono

As much I think Dirrell is very talented and I want him to win the Tourney. He held way too much. I didn't really have a problem with his movement but his holding was too much.

I let the referee make the decisions when it comes to things like holding. If he deducts a point, then that is reflected on my scorecard. I judge based on clean, effective scoring, ring generalship, defense, etc.. I use the guidelines that judges are supposed to follow. I don't let me personal preferences play a part, as much as I can help it.

Depends on what the other guy is doing. Most boxers hold at some point in a boxing match.

Kind of what everybody else is saying. If he's doing it as part of a strategy, I don't feel it's my place to "penalize" a point (as in subract one from the 10-point-must) unless the ref calls for it. That's his job.

If he's holding instead of doing any boxing, then obviously it's going to be tricky for him to win the round, so I could penalize him in that sense.

If you do, you will appreciate Ruiz.

After he outclassed Holyfield people thought they could get away with it.

    Ruiz is old school.

And quiet. You might go so far as to call him a Quiet Man.

Nah, that's the ref's job. Wish more refs would enforce the rules properly.

:good i penalize the fighter who lost the round, not whos style i didnt like. if the ref takes a point then so be it but thats not a judges job
