Hardcore roids from a time of the most minimal and corrupt testing.
Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Roy Jones etc. all these Murican boxing idols were massively enhanced.

I remember Mike Tyson saying his weight training was basically 'old-school' weighted dips and pulling tyres etc.
And he was 5'10, 100kg lean.
Anyone who thinks you can put on that kind of lean bulk doing basic exercises with no roids, in a cardio sport, is in a fantasy world.

It's no surprise Tyson wasn't even proper HW weight while still being fat in the Roy Jones fight. An old athlete who is fat and actually weighs less than his prime days means he was roiding like crazy to get that bulk because his natural weight was nowhere near it.

Ped's probably eroded his chin to smithereens. He was like a superman in his 20's but an old lady could ko him in his 30's-40's, just not worth it. I think people gave him too much respect too in some of his prime fights & should've tested that chin more. Eric Lucas of all people showed it could be done.

Tyson - old school dips & pills. In one clip of his prime training they show him with a big jar of pills, who knows what was in it. It was crazy to have that much explosiveness & maintain it late in round. Super fast twitch muscles usually mean compromise in endurance. As soon as he hit about 30 years of age, he basically had 2-4 rounds of explosiveness & stamina.

Steroids can definitely improve agility and skill. Testosterone is directly linked to speed and coordination, which are tied to agility and skill.

But isn't that because he went to prison for a few years and wasn't able to train?

Could be, but once he got out, he could train and get back to what he was earlier, but never could. Also in the brutal & punishing sport of boxing taking a few years of could help in recovery.

That is true, but you also have to remember that he was a good bit older by the time he got out. Can't really bounce back at 30 like 21.
