Do you rank Joe Louis the same when it comes to career and h2h?

We know that Joe Louis is usually no. 1 or no. 2 when it comes to all time HW rankings. That is usually par for the course for most. If we're excluding stuff like longevity, title defense and resume as a whole... and we're just talking... a HW top ten based solely on h2h criteria and how each fighter would do against the rest. Is Joe Louis still your No. 1 or No. 2?

Nope. Not even close to being top 2 head-to-head in my rankings.

Thank you, but I'm only looking for if he's still No. 1 or No. 2 when it comes to HW h2h rankings. Don't forget to vote

Numero uno in both, so that is pretty consistent!

Hard to say for me...I have never sat down and compiled a list of who is better h2h. To me that would be time consuming to very little end...I would rather figure out a consistent/fair rating system for what they actually did. I do participate in hypothetical h2h’s but they would likely look much different taking each fighter from their apex, than looking into their careers as a whole.

No, but only because I don't rate based on H2H.

Most don't, though Luf is the exception I believe, he only rates based on h2h. Whether that is your main practice or not, or whether you've thought about it extensively or not. Surely in a relatively short period of time you could say... Well, if I was to do a rating based solely on who would beat who and who would do better against most, these would be my top two, and since Joe Louis is or isn't there.. that would answer my question.

Then I say... no, I think he'd be outside the top 2 - just.

I don't have a head to head ranking either, but I know that there are a bunch of fighters who I wouldn't favor Louis to beat so it was a pretty easy "no" for me.

Yes indeed. Still baffles me why he is rated so low H2H in this forum. I think he beats the rest of my top 10 at least twice in a series of three, prime for prime. Joe Louis was perfect offensively and I only see Ali giving him consistent trouble in a series.
    Number 1 overall and top 2 H2H

Interesting...off of my head I can only think of a couple I would pick over him....but anyway I have a meeting tonight, but afterwards I will sit down with my top 25 HW list and figure it out, from my perspective.
