A very quick jab, coupled with fast bodywork

    great answer.:good
I would say not necessarily. the best strategy against mayweather is to try and outwork him. throw 3 punch combinations and then move. go the chest with the first punch, body with the second, and then either head, body, or chest with the last and then move.

By leading with a punch toward the chest instead of the head or body, you keep floyd's guard up, preventing him from countering. sure it won't land, but it will help you maintain the initiative and keep money defensive. a lead to the head or body will allow mayweather to use his shoulder roll or lateral movement to evade the shot and then counter.

By stealing early rounds, you can force mayweather to become more aggressive, but you still have to be the aggressor, as waiting on him will only result in falling victim to his speed, timing, and stinging type power.

That said, the punch to go with is a left hook, not a jab.

Everybody needs a jab. The better your competition, the more you need it.

But Mayweather won't be outjabbed by the guy who eventually beats him. He needs to be attacked constantly with under/over movement, side-to-side, and lots of body shots. And lots of forward motion, backing Floyd up.

Every fighter should have a decent ****ing jab!A jab against Floyd needs to be used to control him and set up hooks.Footwork is more important imo,but if you cant set up your punches properly against Floyd, you get counter all night.

    depends i think

I feel a jab can be a down fall in the sense that he will time it and counter it

Guys who lead with power shots like Judah and Ortiz were able to land on him

though Mosley landed his right by jabbing to the body but then Floyd by the end of the round picked up on it

    2 guys can beat Floyd

a non stop pressure guy with a great gas tank and chin, some one who can eat counters but keep coming like Castillo did, i hate to use castillo as the blue print because it was 10 yrs ago and he is a way different fighter

to be a pressure guy to beat Floyd you gotta have a chin and gotta be fast, fast hands to match Floyds and fast feet to cut off the ring

    or

a counter puncher, sounds nuts but i always wanted to see a guy like Spinx get a shot, low activity a mover good D, his boring style would give Floyd no counter opportunities and force him to fight offensively

ultimately if Floyd stays around too long he will slow down enough where a guy will beat him or he may hurt his hand again but early in a tough fight

like if he were to hurt his hand in the early goings vs Cotto

Zab won 4 rds at MOST, which includes the 12th rd when Floyd already had fight in bag and was toying with him ... not to mention he was going to KO Zab before the low blow.

yes . it provides that Distance keeper. offsets his rythm and makes it hard for him to time you . but has to be a piston pumping type jab. Educated hooking off of it
