I agree, I was out of my mind..... couldnt believe what I just saw. I could probably think of others but the only times I can think of right now where I got the same feeling was Roy vs Tarver 2.... (I didnt see chico/castillo live)
It was great for boxing. Controversy and boxing are made for each other- it's what made the 90s such an interesting decade for heavyweight boxing.
I was watching with a house full of Puerto Ricans. When it first happened, I was confused, like thinking was FMJ going to get DQ'd? Would Ortiz get up? Then I saw Cortez count Ortiz out, and I jumped up like, "oh, ****! That's it? It's over?" The PRs kept making slick remarks to me (assuming I was going for FMJ being that I'm black, of course) at first, I tried explaining that I was just as pissed as they were, but they weren't trying to here that, and kept making slick remarks, so I said **** it and started clowning Ortiz for getting knocked the **** out, and yes - not "defending himself at all times"
