Do you reckon UFC 159 will be the last time we see Chael compete in the cage?

    ps. he's getting beat.

  2. Let's hope. He's got nothing to offer any company other than WWE.

Sonnen can still beat pretty much every Middleweight not named Anderson Silva, and he has a very good chance of beating alot of LHWs. He is one of the biggest draws in the sport. Getting beaten by Jones does not diminish anything, getting destroyed by Jones doesn't either.

Sonnen has taken pretty much no serious damage his entire career, there is no reason to retire right now and miss out on a couple of years of paydays.

Most likely Chael will go on the Rich Franklin tour after this fight.

Unless he pulls off the upset. How awesome would that be?

Rich was still a pretty fun fighter to watch even after his loss to Anderson Silva and twice brutally

I didn't say he wasn't a fun fighter to watch. I like Rich Franklin but after Anderson he never was in serious title contention again and was kept on the shelf until needed to flesh out or save a card. Sonnen will be the same.

No. He'll be back, trust me. Getting submitted becomes an addiction. Sonnen will try and walk away, but very soon he'll start to get a hankering to have some dude's legs wrapped around his neck again, and he'll be back. Honestly, I knew a guy who used to get subbed all the time just like Chael. Again and again and again he tried to quit competition, but he'd get so jealous every time he saw someone else getting choked out on TV he'd be back at the gym on Monday trying to get a fight organized. The poor guy just hangs around on street corners now, asking people on their way to work if they'll stop and slap a d'Arce choke on him, or even just a quick anaconda. It's tragic. I fear the same may happen to Chael..

Sonnens getting admiration for how much hunger he has for a belt.

for him to quit just because he learns he's not championship material is a fairly weak effort IMO. Plenty of more admirable fighters in the UFC still going on

also it's no secret he has a career in broadcast if he wants it. natural charisma
