He was one of the long-time champions

His weakness was he fight only in Germany didnttry in the US

But he gets from Germans all he needs to be happy, great paychecks and average pretenders

I heard that he tried to fight with Roy Jones , even sand him a mail, but od course Dariusz wants it in Europe, RJJ cannot accept it for well- known reasons( refs!!!)

Of course I am aware tha t with RJJ Tiger will probably lost by KO because Dariusz was a talent while RJJ was a superman

What you think about him?? Can he be named the Great Champion??

He was never beaten in his prime.

Had some good wins too against Hill, Griffin, Barber, Rocky, and a Cruiserweight title.

He beat the best the division had to offer at the time, aside from the infamous RJJ match which just wouldn't happen.

I think he is a great, though not an upper echelon great.

First off, DM was the champ at 175, that is a fact. After that win over Hill DM should have held the WBA, IBF and WBO belt. The WBA wanted nothing to do with the WBO, so they instantly stripped him. The IBF demanded him to fight a madatory in 30 days, very realistic.

The WBC is a funny story too. Graciano Rocchigiani was supposed to crowned WBC champ after beating Michael Nunn, but Roy Jones Jr and the WBC had other ideas and stripped him for no reason. Graciano Rocchigiani sued the WBC and was reinstated champ, but only up until the point where lost to none other than Michalczewski two fights later.

So, if the politics of boxing didn't **** him over he would have the WBO, IBF, WBC and WBA championships.

I always though DM should have manned up and came and fought Roy in the U.S. He talked tough because he knew Roy would never have gone to Germany, and he shouldn't have had too, he was #1 P4P.

:good if somebody ranks Jones high at lhw, so must DM. They beat about he same opponents but didn't fight each other. Jones had beter longevity. DM was the man.

The WBC nearly went broke due to Rocchigiani sueing them.

Neither of them ranks with the two fighters in my avatar though. :bart

the fight against Rockigiani was a bit controversial i remember that there was a DQ or something but for me DM behave like an poor actress

But in general i rate DM as a very good but not tested champion

When i joined this site the RJJ vs DM discussion was one of the hottest topics on this forum with many threads asking who was better?who was the real champ?who's ducking who?who should be the one to go to the other's backyard etc. and both groups of fans defending their man(with farmboxer doing to roy what he does now with fraud) unfortunately for everybody they never settled things in the ring and were happy fighting each others left overs.

As for DM he was a good fighter with good fundamentals, good jab ,heavy hands, solid chin and a very good bodypuncher, his main weaknesses were his average handspeed and a poor defense those two things combined with Roy's speed and ability are the main reasons why i think Roy would beat him comfortably but we will never know cause neither one was willing to make the sacrifices necessary for the fight to happen.

    EXACTLY.

Roy Jones' alleged "reign" at light heavyweight is the biggest fraud in recent boxing memory.

Roy was NEVER the man @ 175lbs...

He should have been the Ring champ. The Ring belt was awarded to Jones but if you followed the Ring belts last LHW champ (Spinks) when it disappeared a while back and followed who was champ with the got to beat the man to be the man policy, DM would have been the owner of the belt, only for The Ring to present it to Roy based on achievement when Dariusz had already won LHW WBO, WBA & IBF belts and WBO CW title.
A great who never got recognised, both Dariusz and Roy were reluctant to face the other on home turf

The Tiger would have knocked Jones out with his jab. He had one of the best and stiffest jabs I've seen.

I don't think you can hold it against someone if they've never heard of him. It's impossible to know every boxer who ever lived and so on so forth.

My knowledge is Michalczeski is somewhat limited. I know he was considered Roy Jones Jr's top challenge at 175. I've seen a few of his fights but not enough to be an expert. I also know he was scheduled to fight Sven Ottke a year or so back in a fight lambasted by most boxing observers.
