I can't land it and don't know if it is a commonly used punch, to hook with non-lead hand. Does anyone here use it?
Honestly, I don't use it as much as I need to. I use the left hook a lot more. I use the right hook to the body a lot, but not to the head. I usually just throw the straight right or the overhand right.
my right hook is my best punch but i also mostly use it to the body i rarely throw it to the head as that throws off my timing
I typicaly don't, but I when I do, it seems to work well. I mainly use it to the body though. Ive had pretty good results throwing it to the head after slipping a punch though.
i'm a leftie and fight in a orthodox stance so i can use the left hook as often as i feel that it can land. i just don't feel comfortable in a southpaw stance
Straight right is straight and the overhand right is more of a looping punch. You use overhand right mostly on the inside. There is a lot of difference between the two.
Unless you're real close don't throw a right hook as a opening punch, you can see it miles off. A straight right hand can be used as an opening shot though.
to throw a right hook you have to be on the inside, honestly I rarely throw it, unless I have someone on the ropes then you could mix that shot in but mainly its the left hook.
I use it all the time. Too much probably. Slip the jab, step in, right hook to the body, then one to the head.
I use it quite often. I hate it when I see fighters always throwing 3 punches jab, lefthook, straight right and always to the head. I do it but slide in some uppercuts, body punches and the occasional right hook or overhand. Im a rather well rounded guy.
if you fight on the outside you rarely throw it! feels weird tryin to catch sum1 wid it anyway! unless you ver close and throwing combinations!
