As long as there are no reprocussions form the KO and he continues to be the relentless pressure fighter he is, there are very few fighters in the world that can beat him.
Williams is a great fighter that lost to another great fighter in martinez. The Quintana fight was a fluke that he avenged easily. If he comes back he can easily beat anybody at 147 and anybody at 154. :hat
It's not like he was beat to a bloody pope like Cotto was twice, it was just a good shot that took him out. With his kind of heart I could see him making a come back, with the right people in his corner.
he did not sustain a brutal beat down it was one shot were he put himself in the only place it could happen exchanging with the shorter guy i think he can bounce back an will with the willeness to make some changes on were he throws those punches an still keep that voulume of punches by dictating pace from outside an not falling in to wars in the trenches
Yeah williams will definitely be back, hes a very strong character i think, at least he gives out that impression Still not gone on his demanding a catchweight for martinez, but then again it was poetic justice on that one
Williams needs to sit down on his shots use a jab, learn an uppercut and get quicker in bringing the hands back he can KO ppl we have seen him do it, he just has to sit on his shots he is one of the few much taller fighters that has no uppercut that i can think of finally his hands are so slow to return anybody who studies him can see his and he maybe another KO waiting to happen I say he should work his way into a Cotto fight I think he can win
Williams suffered a quick one punch KO. Something like that does not usually ruin fighters. It's not the same as taking a sustained beating over the course of several rounds.
He'll still fight the same or possibly better... problem is his weakening chin. Despite having been gifted with a solid pair of whiskers at birth, it's clear now that all the punishment he's taken has finally begun to break his punch resistance down and if he never improves upon his defense he'll be visting the canvas again in the very near future.
According to Rafael's blog last week, Williams is returning to 147, where, presumably, he'll have a hard time finding fights, and therefore won't be challenged much.
Yea he should definitely be back.. He took a hellacious shot from one of the best in the game today.. PWill doesn't seem like the guy to get embarrassed or gunshy after a shot like that.. so as long as he's still confident he can be the same fighter he was before, and hopefully with a lil better D even better than before.
Paul Williams is one of the most frustrating fighters I have ever observed. They list him at 6' 1", but we saw pictures of him and Pavlik standing together, and Paul is taller than Kelly. Even KP said he thought williams was 1/2" to 1" taller. So, the dude is around 6' 3", but fights like he was 5' 8" He has the height and reach to stand back, select his shots intelligently, and pick guys apart at the seems. Instead, he rushes in face first and uses his patented "spray and pray" style. Dude drives me nuts!!
