Do you see Ruiz lasting long as champ or will he become another Buster Douglas?

Be honest with yourselves. Do you actually see Ruiz becoming a long reigning champ or do you see him crashing down and losing eventually like Buster Douglas? I think this was more of Ruiz having a bad style for AJ and AJ not being as mentally tough as many thought he was, which is why I see Ruiz winning the rematch if they do fight again.
The only question is whether the huge upset and fame will get to Ruiz's head. Douglas became so undisciplined after beating Tyson that he did not care about training at all which resulted in him losing his next fight, so I'm wondering if the same could happen to Ruiz.

Yeah I tend to agree, Ruiz doesn't strike me as championship material, his style was all bad for AJ.

That's not to take away from what he brings to the division, this guy will whoop a lot of peoples asses. But no champion who intends to stay champion has the work ethic to balloon to 268 pounds @ 40% bodyfat lol.

    Discipline is a key attribute.

We'll see if fame goes to his head or not, that will be interesting - either way he is famous forever.

No one else wants to give their thoughts?
Truthfully I don't see Ruiz beating the likes of Fury, Wilder, Ortiz, or even Usyk. But anything can happen.

Ruiz will win the rematch providing it doesn't take place in the uk when all odds will be rigged against him.

After that who knows how well he will fare against the other champions in the division.

You can tell who has or hasn't actually watched Ruiz fight in the past...

I've only seen his fight with Joseph Parker and AJ. Maybe I should watch more of his past fights...
What's your take? Do you see him lasting long as champ and beating the elites like Fury or Wilder?

His skill is real. You hit him, he hits back automatically. He'll be a hard fight for anyone, anywhere. I just hope he can keep his weight in check.

Which is why I made this thread in the first place. I was very impressed with his performance with AJ, not knowing exactly how good he is despite his weight. When a fighter gets this famous overtime chances are they may become more undisciplined.
How do you see his chances against Wilder?

Wilder probably wants to avoid Ruiz. If old man Ortiz took him to deep waters, Ruiz will do much worse to him. Gotta understand that Ruiz's skill level is off the charts compared to these limited guys like Wilder and AJ. He's closer to Fury if Fury had enough power to keep guys honest and could fight coming forward. Go youtube Ruiz. He backs everyone up, 24/7.

I think he's not mobile enough to have much of a chance against Wilder. I could be wrong though.

I honestly think Ruiz will beat Joshua in the rematch and he has a legitimate chance of beating wilder. I think the difference between the top heavyweights and those that are considered a level below the top, is not that great.

Not like the welterweight division for example where the elites are head and shoulders above the rest.

I think any of the current top/elite heavyweights are capable of beating each other.

He beats Wilder. Wilder would go down quicker than AJ. Ortiz is a slow old man so he beats him as well.

Fury and Usyk outpoint him with relative ease. Parker might beat him again if they fought.

There will be a rematch with Joshua November/December.

Zero chance Ruiz Jr got this fight without signing an iron-clad contract, with a rematch if he won.

Going to be intriguing to see how it pans out. Ruiz Jr knows if he beats AJ again, he'll be a megastar.

There will be so much tension in that fight.

True, I admit it. Well - other than the AJ fight.
