The more I think about it, the more I think the fight won't go the distance. I heard an interesting statement, and what was said was how both fighters are aware of the politics in boxing; therefore, neither want this fight to go the distance. If both of these fighters are truly set and focused on not allowing the judges to score this fight, then I don't think the judges will have to (KO). The last time I remember two guys both being 120% determined to win by KO and not let the judges score was the fourth fight of Pacquiao/Marquez. Both guys didn't train to win, they trained to knock each other out. That was the goal in their mindset. They never thought about this fight would go the distance because neither would allow it to. What happened? By MID FIGHT, Pacquiao was already knocked down and Marquez was about to be taken out of the fight, either by Pacquiao or by his corner, and then Marquez caught Pacquiao. Both of these guys said there would be no decision, and they were right.I think will see a similar case here. Mayweather seems to be putting on muscle and I think he wants to knock Pacquiao out. He already said he'd do it by round 5. Pacquiao's side has been very adamant about how they're aiming for a knockout and won't leave it to the judges. Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get past round 8 or 9.
I see your train of thought and I agree, but still feel it's like around 70/30 in favor of going the distance at best, regarding ko. Floyd may have bulked up a bit, but I still don't see him walking manny down, or fighting like jmm. That said I could be wrong, and it's hard to predict how this will play out, plus this is such a high stakes technical battle.
Floyd's pretty tough mentally. And physically will be well roided. I think he'll be able to hang on through all twelve.
Yes. Because... 1. If Floyd finds he can't deal with Pac's speed and power, he is goint to be very defensive. Then Pac won't be able to KO him. 2. If Floyd starts being very accurate, i think Pac will retaliate and puts Floyd back to reason 1 even for just a while and therefore interrupt Floyds rally. 3. I don't think Floyd can KO Pac. So if its Floyd winning, its going to be a decision.
Lol it is funny how some of you fall into the hype! Either you are naiv or new to the sport.atsch Let's come back to reality. Floyd almost never gets hit with 2 punches in a row.on top of that, he has a solid chin and excellent defense.Add to that, when was the last time Pac knocked somebody out? Floyd on the other hand, has no power. On top of that he is safety first fighter.Add to that, when was the last time Floyd kncked somebody out? well you do the maths stupid thread
Its highly probable, although it wouldn't entirely surprise me if its a late stoppage, however I doubt Manny will land enough clean shots on Floyd to badly hurt him, and Floyd may stun Manny a few times but I doubt enough to do any real damage.
If floyd catches you clean and precise when he sits on his punches, he can knock you out. Maybe not put you to sleep, but he can keep you on the ground for 10 sec (Ortiz). It only takes the perfect shot to the chin. And it's more likely to go all 12 for sure. However, something about two ATG's going for a KO that makes me think it could end early. I agree above though 70/30 chance it goes the distance.
I'd typically say yes i'm confident it will go 12 rounds... But the last time I said that Marquez had Pac planking on the canvas and I was ridiculed for saying how stupid it was for people to be predicting KO's LOL.
Ortiz was just standing there with no defense completely open to that shot, so couple that with Victor having a shaky chin its not too surprising. Manny on the other hand was caught with a similar shot from Marco Antonio Barrera in their second match in the 11th round, Barrera hit him with an illegal solid hard shot after the ref told them to break, it hurt Manny but it didn't drop him however than was a long time before the Marquez KO so his chin may be a little weaker.
