Yes. Marquez would still be stylistically difficult for Pacquiao. The fight would probably happen at 140lbs. Floyd being the better boxer than Marquez in every department doesn't mean Pacquiao wouldn't have to go through hell with Marquez like he already did twice.

That said, Floyd vs. Pacquiao should be next. In the event that Pacquiao loses, the natural fight is a final clash with Marquez. Fighting Floyd would be perfect preparation for dealing with Marquez.

No way. Marquez best days are behind him and moving up in weight is not for him. Pac would beat him pretty bad i would imagine.

I want to see if Marquez took off the extra weight he put on for Mayweather in the Diaz fight.

If he did, I think he could still give Pac a great fight. The extra weight clearly didn't help against Mayweather.

If he does that, fighting at 140 wouldn't force him to put much if any extra on vs Pac who since the last time they fought only has gained 3/4 lbs.

Sadly though, Pac and team will only fight Marquez at 147.

there is no way Pac will be fighting JMM at 135,, he will be draining himself. But still, at any weight today, Pac destroys JMM

    Here's the problem with that.

Pac at 149, can make 135 easily, if he wants but I think he likes the idea of not having to cut so much weight and being able to eat.

He was cutting 14-15lbs on average at 130, he can make 135.

there will be no credit if pac beats jmm at welterweight because jmm is now a lot older and would be fighting at a weight above his normal fighting weight. i don't think pac will drain himself just to accomodate jmm.

marquez has nothing to gain from a manny fight. marquez's entire career is based upon his 2 fights with manny, a beating leaves marquez's career in tatters.

Marquez was bloated and it was a horrible style matchup for him.

i don't think he can go down below 140 easily. i remember during the pac morales 3, his fight night weight was 142. i immediately noticed that he was huge compared to a skinny morales. funny thing is many posters kept saying that pac move up weight sucessfully while maintaining his speed and even became stronger. the fact is pac simply stop draining himself and fought closer to his natural weight based on his frame and age.

Floyd isn't a better boxer then Marquez in "every department." Floyd just happened to be a natural welter fighting a bloated featherweight. Floyd was also way faster for that reason and he had a reach and height advantage. Basically, Marquez had the deck stacked against him in every way.
