It's the nature of boxing (anything can happen) which is why it's very important the fights are made on paper and not in our minds. Is Fury the best challenger in heavyweight boxing? I'm not so sure. The division is horribly weak but maybe a better fight is Wilder vs Wlad. Every now and again a fight made due to hype is fun but generally it's average fights being over egged that are the reason why boxing is an embarrassment of a sport with no competitive architecture.
Boxing is a very unpredictable sport. Two men in the ring, anything can happen. Of course, some fights are blatant mismatches, and they are not even fights or contests. Like matching a good fighter with a 20-0 record against one with a 0-20 record, that's unlikely to even be a contest. You wouldn't even tune in to see it. But other times there's really just a likely winner and an unlikely winner, and the actual result is in doubt. After the event, when the likely winner actually did win (as is most often the case), lots of people will say "told you it was a mismatch" but in fact it wasn't a mismatch. Before the match, things are a lot closer to 50-50 than 95-5, but after the fight the result often seems like it must have been 99% or 100% all along. Hindsight. And yet upsets do happen all the time. There's probably a big surprise result or two every month in the boxing world.
Yeah, i often do that. At least it shows you are ****yzing the match objectively and looking at the favourites weaknesses and the outsiders strengths and how these may match up. Not a lot of people actually do that. The Fury v Klit fight is a little different. For me, 50/50 fights are when you get fighters who have proven themselves at a similar level so you make your prediction based on known factors. With this fight, whilst we know what Fury's strengths are, we don't actually know if he is able to translate those strengths at the very top level so it is harder to make an assertive prediction. I give Fury a decent chance in this fight, more than most, based on the styles, but, it is on the assumption that his skills can be effective at this level.
