with proper conditioning you will probably be able to get down to MW. You just started boxing if you are really into it you will get in completely different shape in time
Just try and get as fit as possible before deciding on a weight. I say the bigger question is how old are you? Anyways, yes you can compete, but it means learning how to bob and weave and cut the corner. I think Vinny Pazienza was also 5'7" and competing at pretty high weights. Good luck with fighting a trainer that teaches cutting off the ring though.
I dont know man, but this midget should have fought in flyweight rather than at HW. This content is protected Im dead serious.
With so many boxers doing heavy bodybuilding, more will be light heavies under 5'9" Many welterweights are 5'5" now, although they list selves as taller, same for all other divisions.
Yes, he made it happen at a similar height but you have to be pretty special. The TS will have to work that much harder than his opponents to make up for the height disadvantage.
Depends on the fighter. Some fighters are able to overcome their height disadvantage, and actually use it to their advantage, but it is difficult, and the exception rather than the norm.
Exactly. And Dwight Braxton is a brilliant exception: relentlessness, good head movement and a breath taking body work rate.
Well, in that case, my professional opinion is that you're too ****ing fat for LHW, not too short. :yep
Unless you have some serious skills to overcome the constant height deficit you will be facing then yes it is too small IMO. For me 5ft8 is around the welterweight height
Mike Tyson was short. James Toney did amazingly well too. If your getting into boxing as an amateur though you may struggle as reach is more important.
