Do you think Al Haymon is good or bad for boxing?

    A lot of pro's and con' to this but everything considered is Haymon good or bad for boxing?

    Fresh competition is good for any business model. Look at what happened to WWF/WWE after ECW and WCW folded. WWE has been **** since because they don't have a reason to make better product because they are the only big act in wrestling.

    Haymon makes everyone else want to do better. Hence Canelo vs Cotto, Main Events getting Hopkins vs Kovalev, Arum trying to get Rigondeaux back to fight Vasyl and on and on.

    Don't forget that even Dana White hop on Haymon's model and put UFC fights on free TV now.

    his put on some poor shows but he has also put on some good ones, more competition means consumers win, if haymon held a monopoly hed prob put on **** fights 24/7 like any other promoter would but the competition he brings means they have to step it up

    Very bad. I expect his experiment will fail within a few years. Unless you have a sugar daddy like Waddell & Reed, you have to sell tickets to make money. Fans are being accustomed to waiting for tickets to be given to them by the likes of 1 iota. Imagine if NFL fans just waited until the last minute and waited until tickets were given away for free.

    UFC was on free tv way before Haymon even had the PBC on tv...!!!

    The biggest issue for me are the fights seem random with little reason for taking place. For example, in the last month or so, they have done Porter v Broner, Thurman v Collazo and Garcia v Malignaggi.

    Why not match them more significantly so the winners can actually progress. For example Porter v Thurman, Broner v Garcia and Collazo v Paulie.

    The winners of the fights they actually had are still in the same place they was before the fight and the losers have taken about 10 steps back.

    I don't particularly view him as being any better or any worse than any number of other underhanded powerful men who have operated behind the scenes since I started watching boxing 30 years ago. And I'd imagine those kind of people and worse date back to the earliest days in the sport.

    Funny you should bring up WWE. I see a lot of similarities between Al Haymon and Mr. McMahon.
